Been around since open beta (missed closed funding by a week) - the truth is this game basically the same game as beta with more skins. For some games that might be a good thing, for a game that desperately needed playable depth even in beta it keeps the game in a quite stale state.

Yep but isn't CS like that also, what has really changed in it other than skins and skins of the maps.

I watch MWO on twitch when I have eaten too much and need to purge. Watching people simp for imaginary magical unicorn dragons with spider arms usually gets me barfing in no time at all. I don't really stick around for anything else, as the amount of time I have free where I could watch gross e-celebs but can't just play the bloody game is pretty small.

Then sync drop and blow them up if they are on the other team. Posted Image

So there's this curious inverse correlation between how ridiculous / attention grabbing a streamer is / looks, and the tier they are in...

As long as they are in tier 3 you have a good chance of getting in the same match. Have multiple tabs of streamers open and when you get out of a match there is almost always someone else hopping back into the soup. Just don't be a weeny and stream snipe them. Thats lame unless of course you really dislike them. Its still lame, but I understand. Posted Image

I don't know a lot about CS, but a quick search shows it has around a dozen game modes, the bits I have seen of it show it to be a fast paced game combined with it being an easily accessible market to access a rotation of players in.

For what it's worth google says the most popular mode is Bomb Defusal - which I would estimate is a mode where the winning objective is to complete a task of defusing a bomb.

It also probably doesn't hurt that they didn't balance the game like they were operating on a several liters a day habit.
Can't imagine it hurt that they delivered the game they sold to players.

As far as the skins in that game go, my understanding is that a large portion of them are quite cheap - most all of them are tradeable - and almost none of them (unlike the way they sell mechs here) are balance destroyers.

That's a huge problem this game has had since they started the mech packs and especially hero mechs - the "skins" you buy in terms of mechs are either rendered useless as most heroes were, or as they kept adding mechs to the game they completely disregarded game balance. Even in the case of the game currency additions, balance was thrown out the window making a substantial portion of the earlier releases sub-par to useless without the massive quirk system.

I don't hate them, I just think their streams suck and consequently, don't watch them. I do manage to find time to moan about them on the forums though.

Hmm, perhaps it’s time for me to go lurming again. I don’t think I did a video on those yet.

do it... link the vid when you have it up and i'll give it a watch. be interesting to see your take on a lurm boat.
(bonus points from me if its an IS one)

honestly if i am going to watch MWO YT content its going to be folks that play all weapons and play styles. or hell do like one guy did and let the community give builds (he did a thing where you leave a build in the comments and he put it in an a roulette for the next challenge vid. sadly he stopped doing it so i stopped watching) he ended up doing a couple of odd builds that were fun to watch, one even inspired me to try something like it.

Why do I watch?

1. Shopping-previewing setups for mechs before I buy them
2. Tweaking-Do I have a build that's working for me optimized?
3. Weird builds that still work
4. Details about mechanics and strategies that are less obvious

Who do I watch?

1. Baradul- Reason: EVERY SINGLE VIDEO shows the full build in the mech hangar and the skill tree. Him leaving MWO has created a vacuum.

2. Data- Reason: He talks about the obscurities of game mechanics that casual players may not be aware of.

3.TTB/Fuzz Nova/ Sean Lang/Blackhawk SC- Reason: Builds and maybe getting to see the full mech in the hangar but probably not. Skill trees? Nope. Not sure if Blackhawk is still playing, but he has a lot of content.

4. B33f-Reason: Fun

5. Everybody else- I poke around and watch all the other people when I happen upon them if they are playing a mech I'm interested in or like.

And finally, the part where all of these people go out and play matches is not particularly interesting to me. I think they have to record more matches than go on youtube so that they get enough good games. Forget the games. Show me the build and the skill tree and maybe briefly explain strategy. Done.

YT always puts mech porn in my listing.
I don't follow any YT MWO, MW5M, or Battletech people.

YT did get me to buy the MW5M and ended up getting all the content because it was fun watching Baradul. He's entertaining.
MW5M brought me back here.

I watch full matches but I hit fast forward because the first 3 to 4 minutes of any match is boring positioning and all that stuff. It's nice this game isn't all sniper fest anymore. At least in tier 4 and 5, we'll see what happens when I hit tier 3. Most of the matches I watch don't have gauss/ppc snipers everywhere.

I run all older mechs minus the Warlord, I love me some Atlases.

I can't for the life of me drive anything smaller than an assault.
