A 'western' themed map would be cool though I guess canyon network is kinda the alien equivalent with those leafy cactus looking things. Maybe another using the same texture set with low mesa scattered about with big boulders in the low ground for cover. Kinda like the colosseum map but instead of metal mushrooms there are mesa.

The creed of aggressive player.
1. Heat is not a penalty; heat capacity is a resource, use it.
2. You're not paid extra for bringing ammo home
3. You're not paid extra for bringing your paintjob home without scratches
4. Don't eat damage unnecessarily, but if it comes to it remember...
5. ... that you're not paid extra for bringing your mech home in one piece

Seems to me its all turning gray from 10 to 100 with 50t at the bottom of the funnel.
10t destroys a 100t in 3 seconds,
100t alphas anything 2 times should be eliminated,
50t shoots anything 30 times and it lives,
Shoot a light ALOT and no death.
you should be cunning effective and a great shot in a light and you must HIDE ! and do it well .... but thats not whats happening.
...and also ive been around for along while could you fix my profile so I get emails and able to communicate with others through messaging. your friend and always fun to play with Me.

Oh I'm not seeing a threat. I'm seen as a threat.

Traveling nap of the earth is key to getting into position undetected. Infantry tactics convert quite well in this game.
Um if you mean traveling "nape" of the earth as in pathing in the low ground, not really. There are some situations if you're a slow brawler (or a short range mech in general) you don't want to expose unnecessarily and rely on your team to scout early game. But if you have even mid range and certainly long range, you want lines as early as possible.
It's possible you mean "don't take unnecessary early damage" but I won't even dignify the argument that low ground is otherwise worth crap. Why do you think so many of the best players rage at their "low ground enjoyer" teammates? No excuses, get to the high ground and shoot.

he's right.
but when not talking about "the top of the top", but the difference between t4-5 and t1-2
then it's
"shoot more" for most of them.
when your heatsinks have nothing to do, you're doing it wrong (most of the time)
hitting stuff is a huge bonus, though ;-)
I don't consider myself "top of the top" and I still follow the principles that Vx outlined and I do just fine. Awareness is huge.

In other words, practice.
I'm not sure anyone outside of top comp teams "practices" that much. Our practice tends to be comp specific anyway. Your point oversells what Vx is saying. You don't need to practice to be aware (sure repetition helps), you just need to be attentive and be that way over and over in your matches.

I play mainly lights and fast mediums so yeah I go low ground a lot but usually right at the edge of the ridgeline so I can pop off an opportunity shot if possible. You are talking about nascar of the slow mechs hugging the lowest possible terrain till they get overrun and die. Thats not taking the low ground thats just not wanting to get their pixels scratched.

While guys like me skill grind whatever mech they just bought (because it was shiny and on sale...) I've heard a few good players comment like "I don't play lights." or "I only play mediums." I guess that would help.
And situational awareness...always.

Last time I dropped against you, it was kinda funny: "Oh, that's Meep Meep on the other side, watch for a flank". First contact: a Shadow Cat circling 'round. Comms: "That'll be Meep Meep".
SPOILERS:
It was.
Last guy on the oppo team to go down, too.

Unless you're just referring to component loss.
I mean that you should not operate with the mindset of preserving your mech at any price. I've seen people throw matches they could have won because one of the surviving mechs was in position to take an objective... and the pilot was too afraid to risk his mech to do that. So we lost. I've also seen matches where a group of heavier but damaged mechs loses to a single light or medium mech because they're too scared to gang up on him because each doesn't want to lose his mech.
Survival is a bonus, not a requirement. Your mech is a means to an end. Your job as a pilot is to maximize its value for your team. Sometimes it means losing the mech to buy an advantage.

Timeless classic that still seems to apply to ~80+% of the players I see .

I looked the guy up, averages 97% on jarl's. Thing is, he doesn't play enough games per month to get enough practice in to be that good-unless he is a physical savant.
Mixing in as a tier 3 player with tier 1's is not much fun...for me. They get to have their fun though.
