I would like to spice up the battles a bit and suggest disabling friend-enemy detection. This means that neither the minimap nor the HUD shows whether a mech is friend or foe.

Then limit the whole thing to 4 vs. 4 or 8 vs. 8.

Optionally, the teams could be assigned uniform colors to at least visually distinguish them.

Another variant could be to continuously disrupt the scanners, i.e. a continuous "low signal", as if an ECM was nearby. (I would be curious to see who comes with lrms)

A while ago there was an infinite ammo and cooling event that still allowed Rocket Launchers. People quickly settled on all RL builds that could one-shot or almost one-shot each other despite there also being bonus armor. I thought this was a pretty fun change of pace from the normal game, especially the later chunk that was all heavy mechs instead of all assaults since you could better jink someone's shot if you timed your dodge right. A mediums only or even lights only version would be pretty fun I think. Call it "Rocket Tag". Maybe make it drop deck to make up for the very short TTK? Probably want to limit it to IS mechs too, since nothing else could compete with reloading RL. That way players are less able to take what would amount to trap build options.

As for sales, with Thanksgiving coming up, maybe reverse jointed legged mechs? A turkey shoot for the upcoming turkey day.

I like the idea of "evening the playing field" by removing ECM and radar deprivation-like bonusses. Same for lock-on extension. Make the game brawly, real as opposed to sniping from 1K+, so maybe even combined with a reduced range for all weapons? Works best on smaller maps, perhaps limit this to 8v8 maps like classic frozen city.

I second this idea. It would be fun to have an event like by-the-book-builds where we could only do lore accurate chassis builds of the mechs (Like the ones on sarna.net). I personally do that from time to time in QP but usually get punished by the meta : >

I already said this before, but it bears repeating: the best use of Event queue is with the whacky modifiers. You guys spent a lot of time and effort to put together this tool to be able to have interesting ways to play.
Infinite JJs, super speed, double armor, infinite ammo, less heat on energy weapons, double range on all weapons... all those are fun, but you don't do it anymore because oh surprise, a portion of the players are too delicate to enjoy that play style... as if they were being barred from still playing quick play whenever they please.... IMO (and judging by what Matt used to say when justifying the development of E.Q.) having 8v8 skirmish with groups of 2 is not what you made this game mode for. For me it does not matter which ones you implement, as long as you do it.
As a specific suggestion, in celebration of the skilled up trial mechs, you could do a trial mechs only mode, I would like that.

EDIT: Oh and about the sales, I know it's not mechs but it is something I've requested a lot, please do a bolt-on sale.

I was going to post literally this as one, but quoting for a little more visibility because this is a fantastic idea.

Other ideas, most of which are more in the just-for-casual-funsies vein than anything else:

1. Weapon restrictions. Anything from a no-sniping set (e.g. No Blue lasers, ERPPC or Gauss) or a sniper-only set (just those weapons) to something hilarious like infinite ammo SRMs only or infinite ammo, never jamming UAC/RAC only. So many possibilities for a combination of fun challenges and just absurd shenanigans.

2. 3v3 and/or 4v4 Solaris fights. Dealer's choice on tech base and weight class, or with FFA dropdecks on maps like Canyon or Mining.

3. Arty Battle: Any open medium/large map, but arty strikes are dropped at random players' feet (one per team) starting 30 seconds-1min into the fight. Dealers choice on player count and single drop vs decks.

4. Old-school arena shooter mode. 12v12 Skirmish, no groups, small/medium maps, infinite drops on a single mech, 10-15 minutes, most kills wins.

Solaris 2v2
max group size 2
each team has 1 Assault + 1 Medium
map is either Liao Jungle or Steiner Coliseum

and

Solaris 2v2
max group size 2
each team has 1 Heavy + 1 Light
map is either Mech Factory or Ishiyama Caves

Greetings MechWarriors! It's time for another Event Queue and Sale, and this time we're trying something different. We will take your input on potential 'Mechs to go on sale, as well as your ideas for Event Queue matches. I think a "realistic damage" mode would be fun. Like 4x damage or something. Conversely, something crazy like 4x armor assaults only would be cool, even more than previous armor events. Maybe "family" mechs only. So all the marauders in a match, all the crabs, etc.

No event run to this point has been solo friendly. I would like a solo event, no groups, no sync drops, 8v8 or 6v6 Domination on the old polar map, not the new one with the canyons and buildings, the old one with the hill by the dish. See some real Nascar, not like you get now. I am just so tired of playing by myself against 4mans.
