If I buy the war EMU, which reward if any do I qualify for? I see the purchase MC qualifiy you for a free non legendary hero mech. But you buy the Emu outright without MC so what gives?

I would say that the "War Emu" qualifies for this:

Buying Rivals Mech Pack only yields you the Prime Reward, and nothing else.

The Rivals Mech Pack qualifies you for the Prime Award these three (3) categories(!):
~Prime Award
~IS Standard Award
~Clan Standard Award

Would disagree with you on that. Both standard rewards explicitly exclude the Rivals Pack. The Rivals Pack qualifies for the Prime Reward.
