I am happy to spend a week boating SRMs on the Stalker, do you have any builds and which variant should I start with? I'm also keen to try out the Misery so any builds for that are appreciated too.

Stalker 5M with 5 aSRM6, 2 snubs wrecks.
Misery with 4 LL, 1 aSRM6 1 Snub.

I run a downscaled version of the 5M build on my C4 Catapult -- 4SRM6A + single snub. It's pretty potent.

Honestly the Stalker is one of the better Sphere assaults; the mounts and peek game are absolutely superb, since it's relatively narrow and all the variants have high mount arms, so it can ridge peek or side peek with pretty minimal exposure, and the good arm mounts are an absolute treasure to have since you can shoot damn near anything at any elevation. And it takes fairly minimal twisting to splash damage across multiple torsos by doing a nose-wiggle as long as you're facing the fire. Big side torso targets from the flanks, though.

I like 'em a bunch. Favourite overall has probably been the 3FB -- the 4N threatened to take that away but this month's nerf to the platform weakened it on me. The 3FB has a lot of vomit options that its ECM helps make happen.

You know Jay Z owns like 300 stalkers. Not exaggerating either. There is no one on planet Earth that knows more about MWO Stalkers than Jay Z.

Simply stating a fact about Jay Z's love of the assault blimp. You need to get out more.

My bad, I knew Jay Z was an MWO celebrity, but I didn't know we had gatekeepers for his fan club. I won't respond to anything he says about Stalkers ever again. Stalkers are Jay Z turf, I should have known better. My bad.

always ran my misery with a uac20 and an mrm40, various backup weapons (a couple lppcs or er small lasers). i think i was able to swap the uac for an hgauss by removing the backup lasers. it was seriously brutal in fp (on brawl maps especially). i think its my most used mech, it still beats my ultraviolet for games played.

People sleep on the misery because its a hero mech from the 60 to 90 days <tm> era, and people don't like thinking about that time.

Playstyles usually used: Sniping, Laser vomit - oh the diversity!

And I disagree: 4 years ago the TTK was longer and your toso wasn't flying off by one alpha - especially not one shot half across the map.

Also, the risk vs reward factor is totally whack. 4 years ago you got high dps or alpha by sarcrificing range. Now you shoot even higher alphas at mid or long range. Now there is zero reason to go for risk and take a short range weapon plattform. You simply do not have advantages but only drawbacks

Didn't I dunk your Javelin with dual heavy gauss and then proceed to slaughter the rest of your team on Crimson Straight just the other day?

Lots of weapon systems are viable these days.

Also, Stalkers = bad is simultaneously the funniest and dumbest thing I've ever read on these forums.

Its a tough mechs with great mounts and a good profile for spreading damage. It is also insanely versatile. Known for boating both lasers and missiles, and my favorite stk loadout ever is 5srm6 (hsl +1), 3sl, 2snubs.

What world are you living in that you consider Stalkers to be bad lmao. They're capable running of B+ thru tippy-top tier loadouts in every role/range bracket.

In my opinion, you can never have enough Stalkers. Posted Image

RAC/5 + MRM-30 + 5 MPLs. With a LFE 300 and 5 DHS (2 in the engine) the RAC/5 is heat neutral so can just fire away, the MRM is good for opening up their armor, and the MPLs help with finishing off a component or subbing in as primary when the RAC is jammed.

That's nice. I'm glad he likes them and knows them.

Shall we all just play Stalkers then? The chassis' balance is unquestionably in good hands. I've got a couple.

Are there any Cicada, Marauder, Jenner, Griffin diehards in your ranks?

I'm a Marauder diehard! Both the 75t and 100t.

I wish I could like the Griffin lol.

Running a CPLT-C4 build with 10 tons less. It's a good chassis aside from the ridiculous scaling. Probably. It would certainly HELP if it weren't gigantic, anyway.

Yeah the firepower is great, but the hitboxes are oof.
Whereas the 75t MAD has the opposite issue (for some variants.)

griffon used to be one of the best srm brawlers in the game, idk what happened to it. of course this was before hags or range meta, or even the cauldron for that matter.

one of my latest hero acquisitions was one of the griffin heroes (not an srm brawler though), and it did pretty well. so the cauldron is doing something right. they are usually pretty good at fixing dead mech variants.

Its still a great SRM brawler. Its just very big and easy to hit the CT. And not as fast as other SRM brawlers. So still good in 1v1 and small brawls, but not as good at avoiding and spread dmg in QP as, say, Huntsman or even Dervish.

The game is in a much better place now than it was 4 years ago. A much larger variety of builds and playstyles are valid in quick play now.

PGI and the cauldron have done a pretty good job. Stop being so negative all the time. Enough is enough.

Disagree. I enjoyed myself far more 4 years ago even with all the issues back then.. The only thing better now is that PSR is not an experience bar anymore.

When criticism is blanketly equated with negativity, and told to shut up, something is going wrong .
