There is currently a Poll going on in the Cauldron Feedback Discord about HAGs and spread.



If you wanna be involved in how things go and get your voice "heard" then get in there and cast your vote.

And before anyone says "why do I gotta go to a discord to do this." You know what.....at least its SOMETHING....be a part of the solution and not part of the problem. We ALL know the current status of this game. Either you can try to be a part of the solution and give feedback and do SOMETHING....or we can sit here in a forum and express our displeasure about something and never work to find a solution...

I can’t help but wonder, where’s the CM? This is one of those things that should probably be kept on top of. Not everyone is on the Discord yet…

Why just not offer such poll on the official game forums?

Especially if these aforemntioned MWO forums have a section called Developers' Corner that would be very suitable exactly for such polls.

Thats all I am trying to do is draw attention to it. Something that SHOULD be done by cauldron members. Sorta like a liaison between here and there.

But since that never happens here I am. Just trying to fill a gap and get SOME form of communication going. SOME form of transparency.

I admit it would be nice to have some form of official capacity done here on the forums for a poll here. Not necessarily as a "end all be all poll" where it decides everything. But rather to include those which DONT go to discord for whatever reason. To get their input as well.

I mean if we are going to "community driven changes" this **** then lets get the community involved. Not just the ideas and thoughts by a small group on one platform.

The other side of that is that at least it IS a central location to organize feedback and discussion, and I would highly suggest people join said discord. Especially if one feels strongly enough about this hobby of ours to want it (MWO) to be better than it is now.

Cause lets face it. Video games are a hobby of ours.

Because the forums are not a good place to find unbiased nuanced opinions. Best to avoid the honey trap forums and use a public discord so that people who are serious about the game will make the effort to find it. Remember these forums are basically a legacy from back when the game had a team of devs assigned to it for active development and they would look to the forums for opinions. Welp those days are long gone and he have one new active dev in the form of Tiyos and a bunch of unpaid volunteers who use a public discord channel for their work.

I'd like to note the clan heat sink nerf was also posted as a poll on discord... something that effects everyone playing the game ,but everyone has to get on discord to stop or allow something? total bs I don't care unbiased or not you need player feedback doing a poll can be biased by itself.

Official forum is an echo chamber. Cauldron is democratic, so they ask their followers what they PREFER, which is a valid balance criterion.

Cept the forums DO tend to lean more on the casual side of things whereas the discord tends to lean towards the comp side of things. It DOES exist. (Hell its as easy as day and night to see if you go through and read some things.)

Having a poll here would include "more eyes on subject matter" than just posting one place and saying it represents the whole community.

Not everyone goes to discord for various reasons. Not everyone goes to the OFFICIAL forums for various reasons. Both of which (believe it or not) actually have valid reasons.

it's not even on disboard it's pretty hard to find for the average user and as i stated before maybe on thist topic or another the announment in the news on the main page can only hold 10 items so as soon as the next patch notes are launched by by and the only other links are spread about the forum and the forum search does not work so..... again how does the average user know it even exist???

i've been playing this game since it almost started and up until now i had no idea the discord existed, let alone cauldron does all the balancing now.

Again they do it that way because they have ~immediate~ control over what they want to debate and when and where to post it without having to worry about the webmaster forgetting to post an update or allowing extended forum access to cauldron volunteers etc. The forums are very disconnected and spread out and there are sub forums you yourself have probably never visited or even know exist.

A discord allows them to present what they do in a focused and easy to navigate layout so that they can hop around at a whim to each section and have full mod powers to make and delete content or add polls etc. It's more that the forums suck for what they want to do than they want to keep a 'comp only' treehouse the casuals are not invited to participate in. When I worked in QA with Relic and CCP we usually had our own discussion forums just so that we had control over what happened there. This is just normal industry standard dev stuff. I mean do you really think that the devs of any game primarily roam the public game forums? Those have ~always~ been a honey trap. Always.

How about YOU go to that discord and search my name in the overall discord...or the weapon discussion, skill discussion, and lockon weapon discussion sections and tell me how I am "refusing to use it?" Everything you just said I have said previously here in the forums that I understand WHY the discord exists. I have even defended it in my own way. I am not knocking the discord use itself. Hell the whole point of this post and others I have recently started to do is because I am trying to bridge a gap between communications. With me even sharing the discord more and more here and there. I have stated many times now I GET IT.

Before you talk down to me and condescend...perhaps educate your own self. Cause right now...ALL you are doing is talking hot air at this point. Go sit down. Think of something to say other than "go use it and stop using the forums" and think outside of what YOU would do...
