Man this game has fallen far from what it once was when players had fun with LRMs to AC20s on any maps and game modes. You have to ask why this is a game everyone should try to have fun with not discredit players who are still hanging with a 10-year-old game.

When the hell was that? Closed beta before DHS were introduced? I don't even really remember AC20s being big even before DHS, it was all about Gaussapults and Lunchbacks.

Back when you used to combo them with regular PPCs, I can't remember when charge was added. I recall 2 PPC 1 AC-20 Highlander being the bomb. 40 alpha... so quaint.

It was 3 PPC + Gauss on the highlander, with no JJ shake

That bad players will complain about anything.

Ah . I was somewhat expecting you to go ahead like "LRMs absolutely wreck, just need a Team of people knowing what to do working together .", maybe write a bit more of the intricacies of using the weapon system effectively . But well, you chose to take the opportunity to have a dig at "bad players" .

Just cos I am curious : those "bad players" complaining about you wrecking them for the lulz with your buddies, where do they sit in terms of Tier, what do you think ?

Pretty sure gauss charge came before JJ shake, AC-20 PPCs didn't require a charge up, it was really good. Poptart Cataphract was strong too and didn't use gauss, it was PPCs and Autocannons.

Those people aren't complaining on the forums

It did, but it didn't affect 3 PPC Gauss, or 3 PPC AC 10. AC20 was always too close (and the slug was too slow) to poptart well with.

7D : AC20/2xSRM6/4MLS .

AC20s were also big on Hunchies (ofc) . Some people even bolted them onto 'Pults for good effect .

..and the next thread that goes from discussion-A into "I'm a lurmer and people are insulting me for it"

so, at least the "emotional" in emotional support seems to be a thing.

Im just confused as to what LRMs actually are now ? Are they no skill/non viable, does a 2x WorldChamp sometimes using them to great effect make em viable and be an example for them requiring teamwork and extraordinary skill ?

LRMs are very feast or famine type of weapon right now. Either you get good spotter support with narcs and you feast, or you don't, and overlapping ECM bubbles completely screw you over. Not much in between.

The problem is the skill doesn't end up being needed with the one doing the lrming, as the spotter using narcs and tag is the one that needs to be skilled. Which leaves the weapon system in itself being both extremely low skill, yet also mostly ineffective vs anyone with a brain if you don't have said spotter

Communication could be better between Cauldron and the official forums, discussion related to balance changes should absolutely be, at the very least, shared on these forums. Right now it happens in a vacuum on the discord, and is only shared here once the decisions have been made. That's ***-backwards in my opinion - yes, it is easier to chat on discord, but updates on what cauldron are discussing ought to be made here before that discussion has effectively closed.

yeah why does it have to be on discord? it's as if they want to hide something instead of using the more publically avalible forum that's been here since the game began.

Yes the discord may be open to everyone, But why is the link not shared on the forum it should be front and center but it's not, despite it being a public discord you still need an invite link.

It's far more organized than the forum. The cauldron discord is also publicly available for you to join.

in short, they are very depend on what _others_ (your teammates AND your reds) do and apart from pulling a round thingie over a square thingie as well as keeping the right distance, there is little _you_ do.
anybody can figure out for himself if that includes "skill" or not, I really don't care.

what irks me is the constant whining of those who do lurming and nothing else;
yes, they are being discriminated; the rest here meets 3x per week for 2hours each, in which we discuss HOW to discriminate those lurmers further. because everybody here is THAT evil.

when I see a facebook-post with "emotional support" across a lrm-mech, I get a laugh out of it (which was the intention, I guess).
the same would happen if there's a "wallhugger/sniperlord"-logo or "Chaaaaaarge..! oh, now I'm alone. now I'm dead"-logo or anything else really.
some people though? "emotional support? As a lurmer (in fact, the only person out there who fully understands how to lurm properly), I feel hurt. see you in court."

back when I started mwo, I thought it was a fun game for "older people" like me (37? or so at that point).
I quickly learned that some of those people just aged their body along, and not matured their mind at all.
by sheer coinsidence, you hear "get me a lock, and I will support you" a lot of times by those ;)

Idk, considering ECM, cover, lockon times, obstacles, moving Target yet having to keep on Target for the flightpath ( mostly ), all the while best not standing still and being aware of your surroundings to me seems to require a certain skillset to play LRMs effectively .

Its a conundrum : LRMs are at the same time "noskill/nonviable", but yet "too hard to use effectively/need Teamwork to be used effectviely, then wreck face" ?

Ofc using them effectively depends highly on what your Team and the reds are doing . I would argue that holds true for any 'Mech and any Match .

Just a little: today first drop in small frozen city with usual potato team and dreaming assaults at start point (that worst B4 point...).

Enemy had 3 lrms, without narc, they smashed us, though our 2 guys did more then 600 damage.

It was so beautiful LRM shower, just changed graphic to very high.

As you know its not lrm map.
