Wanted to bring to the communities' attention some persistent issues I have always had with Blood Asp since launch. This is still a popular mech chassis with players, so I think a design pass still has validity. If you agree, please +1 the thread so the devs can maybe have the changes as more of a thought process. Feel free to contribute modifications to PGI Blood Asp design that you would like to see.

  • Nacelles on Blood Asp are tad large - IMO they should be reigned in a tad. I feel the size ratio should be a little closer to this pictures above. The pre-launch MWO pic above I think is the perfect ratio but like many other pre-launch preview pics, this isn't what we got. Current iteration of Blood Asp has a different nacelle ratio that I wish was closer to the preview illustration.
  • Rancor should have access to ECM - This was done possibly for balance. Ice Ferret is an example of Clan Hero with CT ECM. I feel if you are going to pay real money for mechs then the Hero should have access to the ECM omnipod or in this case, have the ability to mount it in CT. That isn't a good real world monetary value that the mech chassis you pay money for for the C-Bill earnings bonus doesn't have access to the ECM.
  • Walk Animation - The Blood Asp never had a walk animation pass as far as I'm aware. Would love to see it animate more smoothly like Timber Wolf animation pass.

It is awesome we have this mech at all and PGI for the most part has another winner with the mech design being updated for modern times. I would like to see a good mech be even better with some TLC.

Acording to sarna, rancor doesnt have a ecm in lore. Dont know why it should have one in game too. Especially when blood asp already has like two ecm capable variants i believe?

Blood Asp "Rancor" is not a BattleTech canon configuration. It was designed by PGI for MWO.

Essentially, PGI can adjust the hardpoints as they see fit. A week ago they added one hardpoint to the Vindicator.

To be fair, the weapons for that Vindicator were modeled before the Vindicator was released and the rumor was it was held back originally only because they thought it would be too powerful (coincidentally it was the last non-mech pack mech and the last mech to be released before clans if that tells you anything).

Pretty sure the Nacelles were originally much smaller but after much hullabaloo on these very forums, remodeled them to be larger. I highly doubt they are going to waste time shrinking them yet again unless it impacts the viability of the mech significantly much like the Nova Cat arms (which were raised) and I believe the Nightstar (which were moved inward towards the mech).

I think that the Cauldron members are okay with their ECM-carrying Blood Asps A and B, so they will keep "Rancor" as is.

I would concur, "because I want it" isn't really a good reason and "because I paid money" is even worse.
