back in the day every now and then they would release map stats.

basically the maps with a bunch of red dots where people tended to die. do they still release that info? it would be interesting to see where 2000 people died on the maps. maybe do it in blue and red to see opposing teams?

Hey, a warm welcome back to MWO!

Have not seen anything like you've just described... and I've returned back to MWO 3+ years now...

(Would love to be proven wrong--show me where it is!!)

I think the heatmap data was released only for a very short time in...2013?

I recall a conversation in...I'm gonna guess 2018. How that heatmaps were done was already Lostech. Some devs were interested in doing it again in 2018, and no one knew how it had been done, or by whom. Or maybe they just never connected with the right person, or it wasn't a priority for whoever could do it?

Either way, it wasn't gonna happen in 2018(approx) is my point. It certainly won't be happening now that there are significantly fewer devs on the game. It would be cool though, I agree. Especially with how different the game is now.

I would be very interested in this information. I wonder how it would correlate with my own observations?

That's probably where I remember it from. Would be neat but yeah if it wasn't every maintained or what not then no one will ever know now.

i would also like to see some stats on what maps are selected most often. thats something we could use to enhance the map selection screen so we aren't playing on the same 3 maps all the time.

Naw they just gonna boost the same three maps by 500% and remove another map from rotation.

honestly i like the idea of the game keeping track of what maps are being chosen and then taking the most selected out of the rotation for a bit. so if say Solaris is selected the most over say a half hour of play (globally) then the game removes it from the rotation for say the next hour or two. and since we have a whole percentage based system for voting we could use that to say raise or lower the chances of a given map popping up (say the least selected map each game gets a tick that makes it more likely to pop up again. hell its been forever since i played a match on Tera Therma.) anymore all you see is Solaris, Canyon, or Mining over and and over and over with perhaps an HPG tossed in.

i just really get tired of only playing the same 3 maps in rotation. i think its one of the contributing factors to why i don't play MWO nearly as much as i used too. hell take the latest x-mas events. i only played enough to get the two free mechs (sort of meh on those but free mechs is free mechs) and then only did enough of the loot bags to get the first two patterns since the third is one of those two color only jobs. i did complete all but the headshot one (hell i think i have only gotten 2 headshots in all my YEARs of playing mwo) on the other event but that was just getting them as i played and not trying for them.
