I missed this at first go around. This has got to be my favorite patch note ever...

"Hi, we reworked how lock on missiles work and now they sometimes fire in a completely different direction and are totally useless. But that's no reason to delay rolling out the patch, just live with the weapon system being borked to hell and back. Thanks!"

Seriously? I mean I predicted someone was going to make a typo and reduce the speed to 16 m/s instead of 160m/s and we'd have to live with that. But this takes the proverbial cake.

Lol, mad about a bug.

Also, regarding the Osiris buff... I own OSR-4D and I really don't think it deserves a buff. It is an absolute beast. It is too good, especially when compared to other lights.

Whoever gives you this kind of bad advice? The so-called Cauldron is relentless in turning this game into "Gauss/ERPPC Warrior Online". Don't you think that they might be a bit... you know, biased? Like, continuously asking to buff anything they like (and are actively abusing) and nerf anything they don't like (anything preventing them from abusing their favourite meta)?

Man, someone who thinks osiris is good, even though it isn't

So relentless they buff the worst light in the game. Okay. I guess ERPPC Gauss Osiris is meta now.

These "Cauldron" guys don't play QP, and that's where all action is, competitive scene is not important as they think it is.

Dunno what world you're living in but I see Cauldron members in QP all the time. There are also Cauldron members who dont participate in comp at all.

I like the looks of the update.
Will say it's a funny irony though that you're adding HAG splash after caldron fighting so long against spread.

Spread doesnt nerf HAGs much close range. This does. Hope they revert other nerfs a bit more.

What is this Executioner EXE-M variant? I don't recognize it.

It was part of the tournament support pack released last year. I havent seen too many of them although it should be good.

According to the official wiki it is possible crit

https://wiki.mwomerc...e=Critical_Hits

Example: Figure 1 zooms in on the left arm of an IS 'Mech. Arms have 12 critical slots. The fixed components (shoulder, upper arm actuator, lower arm actuator and hand actuator) and medium laser occupy one slot each. The double heat sink occupies three slots. The structure slots are ignored for critical damage chances. Thus, for crit damage calculations there are eight slots. The single slot components each have a 12.5% chance (1/8) to be damaged, and the double heat sink has a 37.5% (3/8) chance to be damaged.

Fixed components like arm actuators can be target of crit rolls, yes, but they effectively absorb the extra damage effect and can't get destroyed. I suggest you read the article you are quoting to it's full extent Posted Image

MWO Wiki said:

Fixed components and engines absorb critical hits, negating the effect of component damage. Every weapon, ammunition bin and piece of equipment has its own health pool, which is reduced when it receives critical damage. When that health pool is depleted the component is destroyed and ceases to function. If the critical hit has more component damage than is required to destroy a component that damage does not transfer to any other target and is lost. An empty ammunition bin still receives damage, but has no chance to explode with destroyed. Example: The above AC/5 hit did three criticals. The three stuck the shoulder (absorbed for no additional damage), medium laser (five points of damage) and double heat sink (five points of damage). If the medium laser had three point of health it would be destroyed and the remaining two points of damage are lost.

I think you are missing out, the 4D is incredibly fun and performs well, it is very similiar to inc-4 erml poke which was deemed good before, it is just a bit faster with jjs and less burntime for less alpha but similiar dps range.

I would not dare to call it absolute beast but not as bad as u might think it is

The graphic shows you the thought behind the changes, I don't think it is supposed to be to scale or an accurate model of LRM pathing. People like you are the reason they put a "not real size" on hotdog and burger advertisements.

1044 meter travel distance for pre-patch missiles, 1018 for post-patch, and 1000 if they have no arc.

- Competetive scene was never the focus. You are bad at strawmanning, stop.

- Most of them play QP more than you do, mr. "13 to 77 games per month for a year".

If they play QP, why do they nerf LRMs? It's so easy to avoid missile fire - hide behind a rock, get radar depr, ECM.
LRMs are not the problem in QP, sniper mechs are. Light and medium mechs get evaporated by these heavy pinpoint builds, you peek around a wrong corner, BOOM. Also these assault snipers slow down matches, by trying to sniper one another across the map, while everyone with medium to low range builds sit in cover.

This change to LRM and Radar deprivation system was made primarily to make playing LRMs in qp less like a torture by making locks more consistent.

Yes, I do play qp, and I do play LRMs a lot. And from my perspective, LRM'ing will become a lot more comfortable.

It was released with the Tournament Supporter pack from CS23 and will be available for cbills after this patch. It brings new LT and RA omnipods and has a nice so8 range quirk.

Let's assume I have a mech with 5 points in Target Decay, this means anyone I see is visible for 2+3.5=5.5 seconds after they break vision with me.
Let's say I see mech with radar derp and afterwards he hides. Pre-patch he would be visible for 0.3 seconds. Post-patch he will be visible for 1.1 seconds.
Let's say I have artemis LRM boat, post patch. Missile speed is 266m/s. For me to be able to hit a mech while it is visible, my target will have to be 300 meters or closer. If the mech is more than 300 meters away, he will break lock before missiles hit it.
Now most players don't skill Target Decay, and their locks on mech with Radar Depr will instantly fade.

Stop trying to sell us this HUGE NERF as a buff to anything, because it is not.

Cry more about it. I love how the end of your comparison, you conclude that Target Decay is unused, and you make the argument of comparing a mech skilled for Max Radar Dep to a mech with no skills in Target Decay.

News Flash: Most players don't max Radar Dep. And if you refuse to use the tools provided to you to optimize your preferred playstyle (I.E. TAG, BAP, NARC, Target Decay, UAV), then you're just another self-victimizing hypocrite demanding that your laziness be catered to. You want respect for your argument? Then make a respectable argument, not this farcical comparison.

I would like to know how many of the aggressive quotewarriors defending the obvious LRM nerfs with text walls, snide comments and graphics are cauldron members/friends? Just curious.

Also wondering if they know what a conflict of interest is?

From my experience, most players have Radar Depr, because I see them fade in half a second.

I already have TAG on my LURMboat, it only works when I can see the mech.
BAP doesn't improve locking speed.
It's hard to land NARC, also NARCed enemies are alerted and usually hide behind a rock until NARC falls off.
Target decay doesn't completely counter Radar Depr.
UAV requires you to be in close range to drop it on top of enemies, LRMs don't work in close range.

I posted a fricking math calculation, TWICE, with pictures added, what else do you need? How am I lazy?!

I remember suggesting maybe more than a year ago half a Lurm warriors (indirect Lrm damagefarmer) should go to the player providing said lock. Whether that lock is by direct LOS, UAV or NARC. Reward the player providing the locks for the lurmer using someone else's locks as they are doing the dangerous work. But hard programming is hard...
If you are doing lurm damage via direct LOS then the damage/match score is all yours.

Light mechs are supposed to provide vision for Lurmers, but since there's so many one-shot snipers, light mechs aren't very popular.

So far in seven out of seven matches i have had locks randomly disappearing (as in fully unlocking/having to retarget) while in LOS of the target at sub-300m-ranges.

This is without any ECM around, and with targets that do not use cover (but are e.g. rushing me in full sight at that moment).

I for one always max Radar Derp. Because its more than just losing lock, it makes your red dorito disappear off the minimap, and that reduces the battlefield awareness of the other team. Even just a little information warfare is good information warfare.

And also the missiles thing, yes.
