I'm not able to make any adjustments to the game mode currently, and yes there is a reason it was removed from QP, but many of you requested it so here it is. I cannot adjust the number of 'Mechs in the drop deck, it's either 1 'Mech or a 4 'Mech drop deck. Two changes I can make is changing the weight class...so changing to Light 'Mechs for example...or another is I can remove the drop deck.

I'd say between the two, remove drop deck. At least we'd still get medium-only combat, which is what interested me about the event.

No to lights, you need skill for those Posted Image. I like 4 drops, had an epic battle already almost won and we were on our last drop very much mechy fun was had! Setting tonnage instead of chassis might include more players is my thinking, newer players may not have 4 fully skilled mechs of one weight class..

Question: did the person who drafted the Escort event never play Escort? A 25 minute drop-deck match is pointless for that game-mode, because the Atlas always reaches the Evac point in 12 minutes or less. There has never been a single Escort mission in the history of Escort that ended on the 15 minute timer. Any mission that timed out, did so when the dropship left, usually around the 12-minute mark.

That said, I think that the game mode has a lot of merit, and could be brought back with a few modifications.

The Atlas should be replaced with the MFB from MW3, with command being granted to whoever takes Company Command using the Battle Grid. From there, they would have additional command options letting them direct the MFB's from waypoint to waypoint, navigating around areas where the enemy is concentrated in force. There should be some tradeoffs available to the team: do you all travel slowly in a group, with limited repair options? Do you leave your slow teammates behind, moving as quickly as possible, and risk being strung out if you encounter the enemy? The MFB should be able to repair about half the team and still make it to the evac. Repairing more than half the team should mean you can't make it, anymore. Give it some benefit so the players actually want to protect it, instead of just having to protect it, but otherwise feeling significant disdain for it, as has historically been the case.

As has always been the case: repair should be limited to ammo and armor, only. Internal damage shall remain as-is through every repair stop.

Ok, now like others it is brutally apparent why escort was taken out of rotation. I AM SO SORRY, to everyone in this community that knew better. One little caveat, You knew and didn't say anything! For shame, for shame. lol
Really its not that bad as long as you don't get stuck on the escort team every game. (btw, except for the first game six times in a row. all I can say is wow.) The first game I was on the attack team and due to first time playing the game hung up and I dropped in 30 seconds after everyone else, just in time to see the win and hear the congratulations. WOW didn't have to do anything. Should have known it was all downhill from there. Well those of you that keep getting the attack or prevent side have fun. Those of you that get suckered into escort duty every game like me, well I'll be playing regular quick matches until the carnage is over.

Daeron, slightly off topic, but why was it dropped? That happened just before my forced absence and I don't recall the issues other than wonky tracking by the VIP. I also recall 3 full lances?

What about spawn location? Or does that fall under "I'm not able to make any adjustments to the game mode currently,"?

I think that would make the biggest difference personally. There really is no reason to put the whole team in the South point and then spread the enemy across 2 drop locations. For the Escort team the spawn/respawn should be in the H11/H12 spawn point not the most southerly one. Could leave the VIP in that. No reason to start the team in concurrent spawn locations.

Also adjusting the VIP path...but I assume that's probably not doable for today's event queue. But something for the future if this mode is ever brought back.

Welcome to my HELL! Escorting team 14 of 18 times. Leads me to believe there is some MM logic involved that continually drops players always on one side than the other. I had this problem back when the game mode was in rotation years ago. Always got escort. I can count on 1 hand the number of times I played this mode and been on the attacking team. smh

In this particular case, the main issue is - defenders are not able to reinforce in time.

So yes, removing drop deck would help defenders in wiping out the attackers.
Even if you go x4 light deck, it still the same problem - it is just too far to run.

Just wanted to say as far as feedback that I am really enjoying playing escort. It's nice to have different things with different victory conditions, and I'm enjoying the change of pace.

As it was also highly requested, we'll be experimenting with Incursion and drop decks on River City, after the Terra Therma events. We'll probably run two 12-hour Incursion events back to back, assuming we find that it's working well enough, and enjoyable in EQ. Thanks for the requests and feedback!

I am really enjoying the return of Escort mode, even though I have lost probably 85% of my Escort drops, both as attacker and defender. It is refreshing to have matches that don't automatically become "rush to the center and fight there".

I have noticed that the defender, once Drop Decks were removed, is winning almost all of the escort matches. At least ones I have been in, as both attacker and defender.

Didn't have the chance to try it sadly.
