There was an old discussion about this that is now locked but it's still not fixed.
1 in 5 or 6 matches my forward movement is stuck and only power down stops it- which is ineffective, obviously. I don't have a joystick or other peripheral attached OR ASSIGNED! Yet, this is still not fixed and being ignored by the game creators. FIX THIS ****! It's annoying and stops my PAYED FOR MECHS WITH REAL MONEY from performing as expected by your settings in game. Not even X - as default "full stop" will arrest my mech from running into unwanted - payed for - danger.....

Never had this issue and I've been playing since beta. Maybe your w key is sticking?

Just to make sure.

If you have a dual language keyboard and the hotkey to swap keyboard language is something that can be pressed during gameplay under specific circumstances (Like Ctrl+Shift or similar at the same time with some other key, like W in this case) the input that was being pressed is locked in and can't be deactivated normally.

To fix this, you can disable the language swap hotkey in windows or disable it and use the alternate hotkey combo, like Windows key + Space which is not used during gameplay in anyway (you can't map the windows key to any command).

Just in case this is your problem.

Oh in this case PGI must drop everything else and make this priority.

I've had it happen randomly a handful of times. I never figured out why it did it.

I've never had this happen. Throttle decay is a setting you can toggle though but I'm guessing the OP tried reversing which would decrease the speed.

There's nothing for PGI to fix if it isn't actually their problem.

I'm assuming your using throttle decay, right?
My best guess is your W key in your keyboard is sticking, has crumbs in it, needs cleaned or replaced.

game remapped my controls with the update, dropped with stuck controls, team died before i fixed it, even though i tried to come back after i fixed the problem. i will now write protect my actionmaps.xml.

this is up there with "game forgot my audio device". bad game, bad.
