What is Counter ECM Locked Damage?


Also a small rant:

With the addition of new missile weapon system coming in and the change to current missile weapons; bring back AMS effecting score!!

You need to counter enemy ECM and get locked damage.

Set your ECM to "Counter" and when you disable enemy ECM someone needs to hit them with guided missiles.

Or you can use your own guided missiles.

(I dont know if PPC or UAV works, torsie is not that smart )

IIRC, you can't do the locked damage yourself for the reward. Somebody else needs to do while you counter the ECM.

BAP or UAV do the job, as long as someone uses lockon weapons on a mech you're countering.

Easier to achieve in a group with one spotter mech kitted out to counter, and friends with LRMs to actually get the damage. Depending on tier, it's not impossible to see whole matches with no lockons in the upper tiers.

I tried SSRM and ATM, so it looks like someone else has to do that damage for you.

Somone else has to do the damage as far as i can tell. I tested out solo mechs with clap, bap, counter-ecm, uav, narc, and ppc and did my own damage with streaks/atms each time. While it lists counter ecm lock damage under the stats at the end of the round, I didn't get the achievement under events. So its either bugged - or you need someone else to do the damage. I did not test enough to see if other people doing damage would count, however.

Very unfun "challenge" considering it seems you need to rely on someone else to do the damage. I've been trying to get this since the event started and just cannot get it done. I tried all day in a kitfox with counter ECM on and streaks and didnt get anything. Its extremely unclear if UAV, TAG or NARC are things you can use too. I'm still not sure how to actually get this done.

Just tried NARC and didn't get this completed. I NARC'd an ECM mech and had someone with LRMS hit it.

So my guess is jamming with counter ECM is it.

I wish every event had headshot requirements in it, to maximise the saltiness for entitled people.

Locked behind the lofty height of a single counter is... a minor cosmetic that gets given out in events frequently.

Also, the Valentine's event has a missile damage challenge. Perfect time to get this.

I completed this tonight in a KitFox with ECM, Light Tag, and Streak SRM2s.

I flipped ECM to Counter, charged a Fafnir with ECM and shot him with locked streaks. Got the achievement.

You can definitely do it yourself.

This is strange, I find some old posts and people also say you can do it yourself. But then someone comes in and says you cant, so its hard to know.

I had black lanner with TAG, NARC, ECM and probe and tried both SSRM and ATM and nothing happened.

It would be nice if there were official explanations how this works or if someone tried how exactly it works.
For example that "protected - something" reward from previous events, you can find website explaining how it works, but they have nothing about this counter ECM, so only few old forum posts are here to help you.

And all those posts say different things.

thought i got it, something called ecm locked damage, but it didnt trip the cheevo. i did ppc an ecm mech and it later got hit by missiles while it was xed out, that didnt work, and i put streaks into an ecm mech i previously disrupted, that didnt work either. im also throwing a lot of matches trying to get this one. i dont think its very good for the game.
