So I bought the Cyclops Arges yesterday. BUT I didn't grab it with $$ I spent MC to buy it. Quite a bit actually as any one that looks at LGD costs that are available in store for MC. But... I am not seeing any experience building for Battlpass benefits when I check. Is that a glitch? Or are we required to ONLY buy in store for cash to get that? I cannot find any warning anywhere concerning that. Also, if I could seach forums I would but on two different systems in two different locations I get an alert that says search not working when I try in forums.

You have to buy for cash to get the battlepass.

The MC version of a Legend is effectively a second (or third, or whatever) Hero 'Mech for the chassis. To get the "Battle Pass", you need to buy the Legend package for actual cash. Which I mean hey, the Legend packs are the best value for dollar MWO has ever offered so hey. But yeah. You buy Argos with MC, you get Argos and *just* Argos.

Wow thx. Wish I knew that before I spent a crapload of MC. I have the $15 and would have spent that instead. I love MWO but some of PGI practices border on... Iffy. For instance I don't know the magic way to tell Legend quirks w/o buying them. Maybe a third party reviewer somewhere has listed them but I dunno. Losing Smurfy's kinda made me a lost puppy. And I fully bought the Arges with MC believing I would get Battlepass only to learn an expensive MC lesson. Thanks again PGI. And you wonder why player numbers decreased? It isn't because MWO isn't fun as all heck. It is little things like this. Enough little things add up to big things. Oh well... The company that brought us all the Mechs of Gold...

https://mwo.nav-alpha.com/

T
his website lets you easily play with and preview 'Mechs. You can also expand the 'Mech Info in the in-game interface and scroll down to see a 'Mech's quirks, though that doesn't work for non-MC Legends.

Contact support, they may be able to refund you.
You can see the mechstats before buying, just view them in the mechlab and expand the Mech stats box.

Contact support and they will most likely refund your MC.
BUT not really PGIs fault if you don't bother reading patch notes, FAQs, forums and so on... Instead you assume/believe and then blame PGI for your failure.

PS. IF PGI would be some other company those gold mechs would be pure p2w not just different color.

yea the weird thing about it is you can spend $15 on mc, or get the same amount of mc when you complete the battle pass and have a legendary mech and all the other goodies on top of it. its nice when you complete your legendary to just be able to go buy a hero mech of your choice pretty much, though you may have to wait for a sale for heavier/clan heroes or you can buy new legendaries and pick up the older ones you missed out on. you even get the mechbay to put it in.

as far as modern gaming purchases go, caveat emptor. mwo is one of the more fair f2p games, and its still enough to make me never play another f2p again.

PGI gives away so much MC all the time that selling legendaries with battlepass for real money exclusively is only way to ensure that PGI actually makes some money from legendaries.

seems like its in decline though. you can farm enough mc to buy a hero but it usually takes a couple months of events (barring maybe the christmas lootbag events which are very generous) to do it, plus waiting on a sale. seems like they are handing out less now.

its a no brainer that pgi wants to sell legendaries, they rebranded the game around them and they are totally a value proposition the likes of which we have never seen. if pgi would go and cut the prices on all legacy mechs to a similar value proposition, i think that people would go back and buy a lot of skipped over content.

27650 for me last Year, I missed some opportunities because didn't play Feb-Jun... that number includes MWOWC2023 games played. So PGI gave me MC worth 99,95$ pack just by playing and not even playing much really.

I looked. Didn't find anything. No doubt it IS buried in some patchnote somewhere. I DO read patch notes. But clearly don't hang on every word on every patch note drop as apparently you do. Some of use actually have lives outside MWO. I do. Not much, but I do. Also mr lawyer fine print reader, apparently you missed where I said forum searching has been "down" (that means inoperative. it is a slang term for not working) because I tried to look before buying. So I already bought the LEGENDARY Arges anyways right after in here I learned my first Arges is a hero and not legendary. I had kinda written it of as just having two Arges. I mean what the heck. One can never have too many Arges right?

BUT NOT TO WORRY! Someone in PGI read this post and contacted me about dealing with it! Classy move on PGI's part. Customer service that is responsive always impresses me and yes this impressed me.

PGI that is, not your comment. You? Stay out of customer service. You might consider a career in public relations in politics? I think you would do well. A possible lucrative career may be ahead of you there!!! Seriously.

theres reading patch notes and then there is remembering what you read 2 months ago and differentiating it with what you read 3 months ago, it all blurs together. theres probibly a number of things i do which i think are good ideas but are several patches out of date.

They contacted me. Told me to submit an email so I did. Tbh at this point not a big deal. I am over it. If they refund MC and take back the hero Arges thanks! If not np then I simply have two. After I first posted then learned I had to buy with $$ I promptly did that and been leveling up through battlepass. I mean if I am saddled with two Arges is that bad? If they refund the MC then likely I will buy colors and warhorns and decals... Oh my.

I do try to, on a semi regular basis buy about $7 or $15 worth of MC. To help keep MWO alive. It is fre to play and they have been really great bout not letting it get "pay to win". So the least I can do is do my part. Which means buy some gold and get colors or skins or warhorns and such. On most drops ppl notice my mechs are custom camo and colors. When I get a kill invariably a warhorn sounds off. This is not because I am narcissistic. Ok maybe a little. Ok okayyy a lot. But also paying for playing the game. One of the greatest online games ever with a LARGE following died because DYNAMIX failed to get a decent income stream going. Tribes 2. You bought the game then played on free to play servers. In 2001 and then into 2002 and 2003 I would see half a million players on a typical weekend night. Page after page of lobbies of the basic T2 and then mod versions. But it died because past initial sale of the actual game. No more revenue stream incoming. So it became prohibitive to keep it going. And then every company that has bought the license since has screwed the game up. After the servers went offline they eventually released the rights to public but by the time they did many players had moved on.

I don't want to see that happen to MWO. T2 lasted 5 years or so with official servers and had a decent following when they resurrected it on free servers maintained by fans. Under the name Tribes Next.

But MWO has lasted over 12 years now and going strong! As long as I can log in and play... I WILL!

PGI contacted me and took back the ARGES hero mech and refunded all MC and anything spent on it. I had to return it to stock loadout form. Take it to the bodyshop and return the paintjob to original and clear all my crap outta the cockpit. I detailed it too. With Armorall on the poly's and Maguires Leather Treatment on seats and all.

Thanks PGI for doing something you really didn't have to do! As I said in earlier posts I was already ok with having 2 Arges. Though not ideal. So PGI made it ideal. And fast too! Stay classy.
