Hello ive never played clan mechs before

I just got a moonwalker

Its fully skilled in heat management etc

People were very helpful to respond to my previous post asking for builds

I have tried fully loading this thing with heat sinks and in the time it took me to write this post

The mech still hasnt cooled down completely

Am I missing anything?

My weapons loadout has either 1 to 4 heat per weapon per burst or some mix there of

Not for play, but last thing I tested was 5 ap gauss 1 lbx 20 because low heat

Too too too so so dang spicy.

What does it mean ? The temperature doesn't go down to 0?
Show the build you use, but generally (very generally), clan mechs heat up faster and cool down faster

That's the beauty of BattleTech; everything is balanced so beautifully!

IS: Weapons run cooler, mechs more sturdier

Clan: Weapons run hotter (but more range/damage), mechs more fragile

That said, how MWO interprets this into our game is entirely another matter! ;)

5 AP gauss + LB20 shouldn't overheat you at all. I tested it in testing ground myself and even with less than stock heating and no heat skills at all, it took more than a minute of constant alpha striking to fill out the heat bar, and it only took a few seconds for that heat to dissipate.

This might be a bug? Unless you've got a PPC or heavy large laser or bunch of SRMs mounted that you forgot to mention, a bug is the only thing I can think of.

5 AP gauss + LB20 can overheat mech with 10 dhs and without skills 2,5HPS while 10 DHS gives dissipation of 2. but I wouldn't call that hot... 100 seconds to overheat.
With heat generation and cool run skills maxed I'm not sure it can overheat, not bothering to do the math.

That sounds totally different from what's happening in my testing area-I've tried tourmaline and canyon

Ive tried some builds in qp and issue doesnt happen in qp. So all good. I guess its a testing area bug

Testing Grounds is somewhat different from QP.

For example, the 2023 introduced new Clan 5xAC10 triggers Ghost Heat limit (fire 5 or more Clan AC10 triggers Ghost Heat) into QP.

But in the Testing Grounds still fire new Clan 5xAC10 with no Ghost Heat, and this lasted for many months.

I myself tested this in early-January 2024, and Testing Grounds still fire new Clan 5xAC10 with no Ghost Heat.

(This had been 'fixed' just before the March 2024 new weapons patch).

[Edit: Sorry, my bad: Fire Clan 5xAC10 triggers Ghost Heat. Not AC5's...]

Don't test stuff in testing area as name inclines it is not made for testing Posted Image. it doesn't function as live game, not server tickrate there for example.

Lobby with a friend is the best way, it would be nice to be able to launch into lobby solo.

Ok thanks all

I was very confused why the mad cat was so popular when it took 5 min to cooldown in test grounds after coolshot

From what I've seen, testing ground bugs out. I usually go into Frozen City to test out a build and my heat won't dissipate at all sometimes. I use the Academy to do my testing cause I never have the heat bug in there.

Yeah, that'd be the heat bug. It's rare but it still exists
