This seems promising...
Could we have some more black (sorry if it not the proper word!) characters? Smoke Jaguars has a lot of famous black-skinned members.
Clanners are not racists just classists.

May I guess that we would not have the same flexibility we had in MW2? I mean Trials for ranks and others. Would be fascinating to fight through a Trial of Bloodright!

Oh, dear devs! Better include Operation Dragonslayer! For CSJ that's a MUST!

If its a single player game, hopefully the mechlab is very flexible; I do miss Mechwarrior 3's ability to completely mix and match any chassis/weapons/equipment. Had so much fun back then with and Inner Sphere Annihilator packed with Clan ERPPC's, Clan DHS, Clan targeting computer with aiming reticle....
This is something what I would never do: Walking through the mission, one-shotting enemy 'Mechs while checking the mobile phone .. That would not work for me.

Nope...

This is the game You should have made for Mechwarrior 5... You did not...

No, You gave us a MW5 that was barely playable... Mods saved that game... Not DLC's...

No... There will be no more PGI Game purchases... Ever...

Thank you for telling us that you are never going to buy no MechWarrior 5: Clans and no MechWarrior Online product.

As for my person, I will almost certainly buy MechWarrior 5: Clans, if it is released on GOG.

This is an individual who constantly whines on anything Clan and derides it as "Clanner Crap". Doesn't matter if it's a Free Mech or a Mechpack. It is childish.

However, there is a bit a truth in those words. Being an MW5 modder myself, I can understand how frustrating it is when only the modders fix problems with the game that the devs should have fixed in the base game themselves. Two known examples I know of are Better Spawns which fixes the enemy spawns were they don't have to appear too close or behind you and TTrulez which makes the AI act more akin to their combat roles instead of bumrushing you.

Despite the fact that I don't like them whining and moaning on Clan-based threads like this, Steel does have a good point regarding Mechwarrior 5: Mercs regarding DLC and mods.

As for me, I am gonna see where Mechwarrior 5: Clans goes before I make the purchase. I wan to see how this plays out.

He whines literally about everything he comes across ...

He whines about a new game (MechWarrior5: Clans) that has not even played:

He whines about new 'Mechs:

SInce IS Omni's are an option now, how bout We kill these terrible friggin Legendary Mechs... We don't really need anymore if we are getting Omni's... Legendary's are ugly, moronically named, and besides the Victor Li Dok To, aren't Canon in the least... They are abominations that must be cleansed from the Inner Sphere... The Emperor Commands their Heresy be anni- Oops... Wrong franchise for a second there... But ye get the drift... I hate them with every fiber of My being... The Otomo's are ok...

He whines about free 'Mechs:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 09 April 2024 - 08:46 PM, said:

Can we sell this one? Or is it one of those "Non-sellable" Mechs. I don't give a Rats Fig about Clanner crap...

Or Clan themed games for that matter... I've never wanted to play a boring Clanner character...

He reminds us that he will not buy anything:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 22 March 2024 - 09:11 PM, said:

Legendary Mechs are an Abomination... I'll buy nothing... Cheers.

He whines about the optional livery that he does not like (he does not understand that the MWO Marik livery is not the Marik Militia, but a different unit):

View PostSteel Shanks, on 22 March 2024 - 11:19 AM, said:

How bout an ACCURATE Free World's League Militia Scheme? Marik Purple, Red, Blue, none of that terrible Neon Green ye have going on...

Then he offers additional whining and threatens with suicide ... sorry, with unistalling the game:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 21 January 2024 - 09:22 PM, said:

Sigh...

No Voice of Kerensky... They did not mention ANY of that... Because they don't know how to do it obviously... So they try and tantalize us with fancy-schmancy new guns and bits...

Can't WAIT for the Cauldron to "Balance" all of the weapons they like the most... That... Dear Gods... That should be "fun".

Beam Laser... Wow...

Plasma Cannon as a sniping Light PPC for the Clanners... Much Wow...

I'm starting to not dislike this game... I'm beginning to actively hate it in fact... This patch may be the Catalyst to Uninstall...

This is his reaction after being told that MechWarrior Online is not 1:1 simulation of the tabletop BattleTech:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 25 August 2023 - 12:18 PM, said:

Martian are You PGI? F*ck off ye Gob-***** lol...

If Era's don't matter, and Lore doesn't matter, than what's the point of the game? If none of it matters, it's not BattleTech / Mechwarrior.... Just call it "Random Robot Game Catered to Knob-Tards Like Martian."

It ceases to be BattleTech, and since this post, people other than Me have been complaining about EXACTLY what I said...
Odd that...

Another threat with the uninstall:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 22 August 2023 - 04:49 PM, said:

No MML's huh? Don't know why...

Look PGI... Legendary Mechs... Lame new weapons... Ye advance weapons, but time wise in like Faction Play we're still in 3052? LOL...This is becoming a giant *****-show...

One of yer Hatchetman Variants is from the fecking Dark Age for Gods sake... What are you doing?

I'm about done with this fecking game...

**** You PGI... I'm ready for another developer to do something with Mechwarrior... Or just let it die for a few years...
Man, I wish Hare Brained Schemes would do a second BattleTech game... Sad times...

Another proof that his understanding of BattleTech is about the same as his understanding of MechWarrior Online:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 02 June 2023 - 08:05 PM, said:

PGI no matter how hard ye try and sell that Marik Paint Scheme... Either here for the Event, or MW5, or where ever ye show it... That's NOT Mariks Scheme! We of the FWL don't have that TERRIBLE Green in our schemes, unless yer from the Oriente Units... Either go Guards with just White and Marik Purple, or go Marik Militia with Marik Purple, Blue, and Red... That Green is feckin' terrible... That poor Champion Mech...

Here he is complaining that PGI added one rare 'Mech - the Bull Shark - in the game, because the 'Mech is too rare. Seriously, WTF?

View PostSteel Shanks, on 04 May 2024 - 10:00 PM, said:

Though I do love this Mech in HBS BattleTech, it should have STAYED in HBS BattleTech...

PGI- "Let's take one of the RAREST MECHS in ALL of BattleTech Lore and Games, make 6 friggin variants, ( many with idiotic weapon loadouts, 4 PPC's sure why not ) and stick it in MWO for a sure-fire Cash Grab...

This is his complaint that PGI still produces content - i.e. new expansion packs - for MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries. I guess he would be happier with the old game without a new content.

View PostSteel Shanks, on 04 May 2024 - 10:00 PM, said:

Don't forget about the 37 DLC's ye need for MechWarrior 5 too kids...

He just knows how to make PGI employees happy:

View PostSteel Shanks, on 04 May 2024 - 10:00 PM, said:

Yer just the worst Developers for MechWarrior, I swear... Sigh...

When I am thinking about it, I guess it would be easier to create the list of things that he does not whine about ...

But then, it would be a pretty short list. Actually, I am not sure if there would be just a single line on such list. Posted Image

Personally, I am ready to give MechWarrior 5: Clans a try.

After all, it is possible—however unlikely—that PGI has learned from its mistakes with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries and the new game will be more polished.Posted Image

Definitely has MW2 vibes. Hoping for the best. Maybe after launch and a DLC or two, PGI can "remaster" MW5 Mercs so it is in Unreal 5 and has the improved cutscenes / MOCAP. Not sure what the future of MW5: CLANS would be like, a "Career Mode" for a CLAN Warrior would not be that great, since it would be just going where you are ordered to and completing the objectives you are given. For Career Mode, I guess it could have some variety, if how well you do in the missions determines your rank, the Mechs / weapons you have access to and what missions you are sent on.

If the game is received well and sells well, can we expect a DLC similar to MW2: Ghost Bear's Legacy and this time, maybe make the DLC about another CLAN that has not been focused on before?

Honestly, I would not expect it.

Essentially, just like in MechWarrior 2?

I am going to wait until we see before buying, the true quality of the story-line remains to be seen and especially, the size of the maps. MWO is notorious for giving everyone really small maps. I still remember playing the maps in MW2 almost 30 years ago with each one able to fit every map MWO has in them with room to spare.

Yes, but a step further, where your rank / standing determines what planets you are sent to and what missions you are assigned to (like whether you get to be in the first wave of the Inner Sphere invasion or not and things like that).

The storyline starting even before the Clan invasion? No problem.

I feel the same way. I hope the refit rules from Battletech TT are loosely applied like they were in MW5, but with a bit more flexibility. I dislike "gunbag" style mechs where the chassis is basically a skin. I made a separate thread in this forum about it. I think the hardpoint sizes that were inspired by MW4's mechlab add more character to the variants and force the player to get creative. However, adding hardpoints for non-weapon equipment (life support, sensors, cockpit, engine, gyro, actuators) would be welcome.

I hope that Mechwarrior: 5 Clans eases up on the Mechlab restrictions and allows us to customize out mechs just like the past games. I get that PGI wanted to show how Stock Loadouts could be unique for certain mechs, but it's sad when we have to rely on modding to make that a feature.

I agree. At least some hardpoint limitations would be good.

According to my guess, the game will be released in October. This is if an announcement with new details is made in June. I found out that there are no plans to make a knowledge base like in MW2: 31 Century Combat.

There will be some Summer game events. I hope that PGI could release some more MW5:Clans info there.

Yes, there will be a lot of gaming festivals this month and the participants are unknown at many events. According to the game, I really hope that they will show us the campaign from the point of view of the way of Clans, and not a campaign about Clans, but from the moral side and the view of the inhabitants of the Inner Sphere. Although to be honest, I am already ready for everything and condemnations of the Clan's actions from its mechwarriors... The main thing is that the campaign would be exciting and very epic, atmospheric and the gameplay of the missions would be diverse.
