so i was tinkering with my mad cat the other day and i noticed that every time i put a weapon into the arms, the lower arm part deselects and i can't turn it back on anymore so i am really confused why is this happening? is this a bug?

This is a normal behaviour. It was carried over from the tabletop BattleTech. Equipping your OmniMech with big arm-mounted weapons precludes equipping lower arm actuators (and hand actuators, of course).

Autocannons and PPCs disable lower arm actuators on omnimechs when placed into that arm. You can still get LAA actuation on arm mounted weapons by selecting the actuator in the arm without the PPC/AC.

For what its worth, i think lower arm actuators are a big downside unless you only have arm weapons - if you have a mix of arm/torso weapons you have to use arm lock or you wont get decent convergence on reaction shots, but using arm lock is really annoying due to the way it messes with how mouse movements interact with torso movement. My sweet spot is unlocked arms but with no LAAs so horizontal convergence is unaffected (vertical convergence is much less critical due to mechs being unable to fly)

It's where the missiles should be. The madcat has wobbly missile pods in lore.

Clan Omni-pods have been this way for a long time.

As is, anything larger than a Machinegun ballistic locks the actuators.

ERPPC's and Plasma cannons also block the use of Lower arm actuators.

The only mechs immune to this are the CLAN Battlemech Variants, and all of the InnerSphere mechs.

I never understood it, but that is how the devs have set it.

Its like the MechWarrior-2 intro, The Summoner has an ERPPC on the right arm, and Lb10x on the left, and it is clearly using lower arm actuators.

I'll have to re-grow some eye brows after that flashback. Posted Image
