Ain't the KU lacks hands? I never seen any KU with hands just those box-arms.

Yes, but it was mostly because the original Black Hawk KU's design was taken from MechWarrior 3's Nova:

There were a few ideas internally on how to deal with the Black Hawk-KU having a locked XL, like many other IS Omnimechs. The cleanest solution in the end was to just give hefty survival quirks to the side torsos. We didn’t want to give it a unique engine type or make it like a clan XL since a change like that would have to be uniformly applied to any IS Omnimechs if we add more down the road, and that felt like a slippery slope when some are more susceptible to being XL checked than others.

I’m pretty confident the total health the BHKU will have in the STs will help compensate for the forced XL, but also keep in mind that this is also our first IS Omnimech. We may not get it right on the first try, but if the BHKU is lacking we’ll certainly buff it as soon as we can. My hope is that this goes well enough that we can look at more IS Omnis in the future.

Luckily for us. There aren't that many XL driven IS Omnis in the universe.

The Hauptmann is one such IS Omni that does not have a XL Engine. Strider is another. I think some later versions aren't all XL driven.

Incidentally, iirc, any Omni can have hands. It's just very unusual for something like, say, a Mad Dog or Timber Wolf to.

As for telling Omni Blackjacks, Omni Firestarters or the Perseus apart from their stock forms, they were a lot blockier than the BJ, FS and Orion, so it's reasonably likely PGI would probably go the same path. You still would likely mistake them from a distances. That said, you could also ID the FSO and BJO by weights (as the FSO is a 45 tonner, and the BJO is a 50, both respectively being heavier than their forebears).

I wouldn't worry about that. As it is stated, we'll be getting challenges to follow the release. Which may add more GSP. In which case, there'll be plenty of chances to skill these beauties up.

For the new mech, going with Kingfisher if it's a canon mech. Something well liked, well know and can be used in both MWO and MW5 Clans

Good chance it's a PGI original. So far we have two IS originals and one Clan original.

It's a 60 ton IS Omni, that's whats new.

While I have never been super excited for IS Omnis myself, it's a little too early to say how it will stack against the Champion, Rifleman or Quickdraw.

April Patch - The Black Hawk-KU

The first IS Omnimech coming to MWO, the Black Hawk-KU will be a trailblazer of new things to come.

You will get more details about this Pack next week in the patch notes but here are the basics

Patch Notes will be released tomorrow, and hopefully, we'll get more than just info on the Black Hawk-KU, and changes to Quirks and newly minted weapons from last month. I'm so stoked, it's beyond imaginable ridiculousness.

Shame we won't get the Blackhawk-KU-R (no mixtech, Bulldog Refit with ClanTech), but still some nice potential options for variants down the road.

This patch will also address the ammo quirks for a lot of mechs from the new weapons right?

I'm going to wager a guess that the Nova will still be better. Unless the KU has some amazing quirks.

Wouldnt mind the Strider, Firestarter omni, Raptor, TENSHI etc.
I dont care if its XL locked on some. Call it " hardcore " mode
I just wonder... are there any IS Omnis with Light Fusion Engine??

Anyway..

Finally its all coming full circle

IS:

Battlemechs
Omnimechs

Clan:

Omnimechs
Battlemechs

4 o 4

For May I would like to see the Shadow Hawk IIc bm or Vulture MK 2, 3 ( mk 4 is further into the timeline ). You know when the Vulture / Mad Dog got the chin turrets standarized.

SInce IS Omni's are an option now, how bout We kill these terrible friggin Legendary Mechs... We don't really need anymore if we are getting Omni's... Legendary's are ugly, moronically named, and besides the Victor Li Dok To, aren't Canon in the least... They are abominations that must be cleansed from the Inner Sphere... The Emperor Commands their Heresy be anni- Oops... Wrong franchise for a second there... But ye get the drift... I hate them with every fiber of My being... The Otomo's are ok...
