Hey Battle.
1. From the Home Page, hit the 'Select Mech' button, which is the first tab, left hand side of the home page.
2. Select the desired Mech using the filters up top to view Mechs that you own.
3. Once a Mech is selected, hit the MechLab button up top, sandwiched between the Home and Store buttons.
4. On the left hand side tab menu, the fifth tab will read 'Camo Spec'. Click on that.
5. Inside this window you will find the Warehouse tab on the right. Select 'Pattern' on the menu bar.
6. You can simply mouse over the various patterns to see what they look like on your Mech.
*** IMPORTANT *** There is a small drop down menu directly beneath the Pattern button that should read 'UNLOCKABLE'. That 750 Mech Credit price point will unlock that pattern for every Mech in that class. For example, if you unlock a pattern for the Warhammer, every Warhammer will have that camo pattern available to it. By selecting ONE SHOT in the drop down menu, the price will drop to 75 Mech Credits and unlock that pattern for THAT MECH ONLY. This is a little dirty sales tactic run by PGI to get unknowing customers to spend 10x the amount on a Mech line that might only have five variants, for example. Cost effective way to do it is with ONE SHOT purchases, even for multiple variants of the same Mech. [It has been years, PGI, you should have changed that default by now.]
7. Once you find a pattern that you like, select it to apply it to your chassis.
8. Beside the PATTERN button is the COLOR button. Here you can change the three color channels to whatever suits you. This is not mandatory, but you can be quite creative here with different colors.
9. The drop down menu lets you fine-tune your selections. Basic colors cost C-Bills. Standard and Premium cost Mech Credits. *** When you purchase a color, you unlock it for any Mech that you own moving forward. ***
10. Once your Mech looks quite spiffy and you're done, you can click on the SAVE button in the lower left corner of the screen. It will show you a final price in Mech Credits, C-Bills or both.
Once you get that all sorted out, there is also the Decal and Bolt-On tabs available, for even more modifications.
Keep in mind that PGI will run sales during the year on things like colors and decals, but not often. If you are patient you can save $$$.
Hope this has been useful.
Cheers.

There's also the Otomo Mech Pack, where you get six (6x) unique camo patterns (paint schemes) for the entire 6x mech chassis on the IS side! Also bolt-ons, GSP
You also get 6x Special Variants with +30% CBills bonus boost.
An excellent deal in my book!

Notably, Unlockable paint camo (patterns) unlock infinite uses on a chassis line, but the Single Shot only let's you use it once. If you change the pattern to something else, you have to pay again to get it back, unlike unlockable which is permanently paid for on that chassis. It's still generally cheaper to do One-Shot, because Unlockable costs 10x more. Most times you won't do a Single Shot 10 times even if you have multiple variants of that chassis and repaint a couple times. But some people might.
Another note, once you've bought a camo pattern, you are free to change the colors and only pay the cost of the colors if you don't own them or pay nothing if you already do. Even if it's a One-shot camo pattern, you don't have to pay the price again if you don't actually change the pattern.
The cost to do camo customization is a little pricey up front, but after you've got a good assortment of colors, since those are purchased once permanently, it gets cheaper over time.
