yeah as much as we would all like this or that feature we have to keep in mind that the coding for MWO is patched together mess and that there are very few people these days that even know how to code for the old version of Cry Engine its based on. add to that the lack of personnel and the obvious biases against certain weapon systems of those that they did put in charge of balancing and you can understand the state of things.

be honest we are talking about changing one variable for each gun in the weapons.xml. code not needed, it already exists.

also it ignores the fact that modders still asm level tweak old games, and that major infrastructure depends on maintaining code written in fortran and cobol back when computers filled a room. whatever excuses we generate for pgi doesnt change the fact that the game is no longer maintained and is just milking us for server fees at this point.

Well to be fair, that's pretty much all live service games.

Unfortunately the problem with live service games is that migrations are hard. Fundamental things like the variant system in MWO couldn't be changed without people feeling like they were bait and switched which hampers what all can feasibly change without a new title, and even things like when they introduced the skill tree took longer because they had to figure out how to bridge the old one with the new.

thats fair. im just tired of the "pgi cant code" argument coming up in every "tweak x" thread. especially in cases where coding is not required. its not that they cant, its that its expensive and not in their budget.

I mean, that's true for literally anything. There's plenty of ancient or awful codebases that could stand to be updated but won't because they've just outlived the point where it makes financial sense to update them. It's just easier to simply say "it's not possible at this time" than that. Otherwise they invite armchair developers trying to bargain with them.

RACs are kind of OP. You don't have to hit a mech very close to it's cockpit to keep it blinded. Anyone can return fire, but the only players who can do it effectively use CFG tweaks.

If you remove the spinup, don't make them do less damage, definitely don't increase the spread. Just take away the flash. Most of us will want our spinup back though, I'd be retiring the RAC PHX without that blinding effect.

I'd suggest that Cooldown should apply to spinup time for RACs (and machine guns as well), because it's a bit of a wasted skill if you have RACs.

While we're at it TCs should give some crits to LBX. If you're running mixed weapons it's a bit annoying if your skills don't have any impact on half of them.
