i dont exactly hate 8v8 either like a lot of the other forumites. wait times seem shorter, and i feel like i have more influence on the match outcome (win or lose).

i played 2 matches and that was all i could stand of it. the whole 8v8 eliminates half the mechs and o half of the play styles from the game.
as for wait times there was no difference on my end or for performance (i play on max settings since i now have a really good PC but even when i had my old potato i could play on low to mid settings with no trouble at all)

I do feel match start faster
I do feel it is easier to play as a team
some pp will still suck (why would that change?) but I do feel team mates are a bit more responsive when asking for support? like it is easier to keep an eye on team mates when we are only 8 instead of 12.

Less mech variety
Less build variety
Defiantly more complete stomps than good or close games by far.
Overall less fun in QP. If they do it again think I'll skip it.

Played 5 lost 5, averaging around a third of my normal damage.
Can't flank and engage as every team has continued peek/poke trading. Opponents have pushed hard as a an eight and overran every time.
Each person mech and loadout matters more.
1-2 bad players on your team REALLY hurts.

Pros- promotes unit cohesion
faster matches
much quicker play
Cons- promotes assaults/heavies it seems
I can see 8v8 randomized with 12v12 or even throw in 3v3 every now and then.
Why not? Each mode is different and promotes pilot skill.

This one isn't an 8v8 issue, it's a "MWO" issue. The game has been increasingly top-heavy for many years now. Larger 'Mechs sell better so Piranha makes what sells, and the average Puglandian feels safer, stronger, and More Better Skilled* in a giant tub of guns and armor. The current total lack of any sort of combat objectives in the game devalues mobility, and an assault 'Mech's typical weaknesses - vulnerability to being outflanked and difficulty in maneuvering and repositioning - are mitigated by the fact that nobody else in Puglandia knows how to do those things either and has a hard time punishing bad assault play.
If the game was more mobility-centric this wouldn't be an issue, but the general playerbase's ultrasuperhyperfixation on Big Braindead Dethmatch (i.e. Skirmish and Domination) won't allow Piranha to make the obvious fix. That being "turn off all game modes not named Conquest." Until that fix happens, the game will continue to be grotesquely top-heavy.
