Yep. And 'mechs are emphatically not created equal here:

Crusader Head Box.

Thunderbolt Head Box.

Still not that common, but it happened enough that I ditched that Thunderbolt X-Pulse build I was trying.

This pains me so much. To this day Ive NEVER gotten a Gargoyle. It is small and in such a weird spot for a mech that is usually moving fast.

some mechs are easier than others, they shouldn't be hard to pull off but they are in general, so I do get suspicious when it happens...but only if it is done by the same opponent.

that being said...I do have the habit of shaving my cockpit armor to 9, except with the cataphract who seem to have a rather easy to hit cockpit.

100% lucky. Lucky I went for the first head shot that is, probably would have lost the match without it

I've said it before, take your time in a hurry. Yesterday with an Atlas showing nothing more than yellow armor bearing down on my Marauder BH2 I twisted to take the hit on the left, while he waited for all his weapns to cool down I turned to face him at <200m, zoomed in (not adv zoom) on the left eye, and put 2SPPC, AC20, and 4ML into the cockpit. One and done.

It can be done but it could only be done because he cooperated by not twisting. The random lucky shots to the cockpit happen, which is why I typically keep 15 - 16 armor there. It is up to you though to put the odds in your favor by not posing for the camera.

Partly inspired by this thread I spent the last 30 days focusing on headshots.

I ended with 68 (65 on video). It took some focus, and most had a luck component. All Tier 1 games.

The real take away is don't stand still! Posted Image

Amazing stuff man! Timely as well, seemed like there was a bit of hate towards headshots building up here the last couple weeks, people simultaneously suggesting it wasn't possible while saying that only bottom tier feeders could do it.

Great video, case closed, and tip of the hat to you!

Pardon me, but that makes no sense. If their intention is to get a head shot the more a pilot practices going for heads shots, the better they will get at head shots.

You may not like being headshotted but it should be less suspicious if its the same opponent because that opponent is trying for, and making moves & choices to get the headshot as oppossed to other pilots who may luck into one every few months.

Enough with the headshot hate, and enough with the passive aggressive implication that headshots are results of cheats, we get it people, it bums you out when it happens, but stop throwing mud at people because you stopped moving too long, peeked too many times in the same spot, took too long to aim, shutdown, etc...

Realistically there is a limit to how well you can do that, especially when talking about projectile weapons which have lead time and convergence fun that you need to account for. Don't bring up other games either because most other games have hitscan or projectiles that are significantly faster (proportionally) than what we have in this game, combine that with a very tiny hitbox, the fact that hitboxes aren't consistent across all mechs, AND terrain is wildly inconsistent you have a game the emphasizes raw aim vs crosshair placement which matters a lot when talking about headshots in traditional FPS.

Yeah, we should just agree with you right? I'm sure all the effort, practice, moves, positioning, loadouts, have nothing to do with it. Must just be a fluke that Herod racked up those headshots intentinally and that his tier and jarls didn't tank. Posted Image

And I'm telling you (with a similar Jarl's) that getting headshots against players that aren't bots almost always comes down to luck or someone forgetting to do something like turn on their override and even then half the time it's better to just CT or rear them because standing still to line up the headshot makes you a juicy target for someone you didn't realize was there. The amount of times in comp that headshots actually come up, is surprisingly low. Most people still keep their head armor pretty high up though because a lucky headshot taking out 50+ tons is huge, especially if you still had significant amounts of armor.

Head shots are super easy when you have an application and scripts setup to do it for you.. No hacks, just scripts..

That should not be surprising. Comp players are generally smart enough to keep moving and twisting making the well aimed headshot more likely to impact on the torso.

Was in a match the other night watched a guy get 3 headshot all on moving mechs at +600M, a couple of matches later same guy had multiple headshots (I lived so didn't get to spectate) but at least 2 guys said he headshot them, one was a locust.

If I face a heavier Mech which will destroy me anyway, for whatever strange tactical decision that lead me to it or perhaps it was just bad luck, I will aim for the pilot chamber. Hopefully with time to place more than one shot at it.

Back then there was a thread in the forum which showed the hit box locations for a head shot for some mechs.

It is defunct, sadly: https://mwomercs.com...x-localisation/

One question, are you guys adding in the "headshot" audio in post after you record the video or is there a way to mod the game itself?

It's unlikely is what most people meant. Combo of latency and mech movement makes doing it reliably highly unlikely. Given those factors when some one does it regularly ie multiple times per match over multiple matches people do (and should) question it.
This video highlights my op where I thought you had to be crazy good to achieve "Guillotine." When a player as good as Herod only gets 65 when really going for it and a 35% jarls score guy has "guillotine" is why I posed the question in the op.
On that video he was hitting on the move -my eyes cannot even focus down to that level to see the reticule lol.

head shots really are not that hard, and a low tier player always drops with potatoes. in t3 you drop with potatoes half the time, and skilled players the other half, or sometimes a mix of the two. in qp head shots are more about opportunity than skill. part of that opportunity is receptive opponents. t1-2 are not what id call receptive and are more likely to headshot you during your line up. a 30th percentile isnt exposed to those players at all (well usually, there are some cases where the mm gives up and just throws what it can at a match, and there are mixed skill groups too).
