What i really dont understand is that after all these years this game exists now you still beeing unable to do something with substance while beeing in queue to find a match.
in quick play its just annoying, but in faction warfare its kinda game breaking and population killing.
When people coud do something in the mechlab or simply explore the different tabs of the faction warfare frontend, it woud greatly contribute to the population in this mode.Looking for dozens of minutes on a spinning loading wheel while you coud instead configure your mechs/drop decks is beyond me.People woud look into the faction rank system possibly by accident and find out that you can get a **** ton of rewards for just playing the mode.
I think it woud be such a simple task to implement but with big impact on the game itself

Usually, those saying such and such modification should be simple have no idea how game development work and hugely underestimate the difficulty of modifying things (especially on an old steam engine like MWO).
Anyway, the game is not being developed anymore, so even if it was simple (which it's not) it would be a no-no.

MANY other games have implemented such a feature either included upon launch, or added after the fact. it is not always difficult to modify a program after development, depending on the level of modification. they haven't completely written the game off as they are still releasing new content for purchase on a regular basis, so it is not unrealistic to expect some level of quality of life updates along the way.

i agree with OP. there have even been times in the normal quick play que where i have stagnated for a few minutes and found myself browsing websites, or looking through netflix for something to watch. i have also logged on for faction play, sat in que, gotten bored, searched netflix, found something to watch, and ended my que and logged out.

if it was adjusted so that we could browse the store and enter the mech bay it would make a world of difference. faction play doesn't even hold some of the same issues that quick play does as you've 'set your drop deck' where as quick play it's whatever mech your 'in'.

i feel they should also address this for group quick play as well. it's very annoying that i can ready up and even looking at the store unready's me.

Those are two different things.
1/ they will add new mechs (coming from MW5, not made for MWO), new weapons, new maps, tweak balance, stuff like that.
2/ they won't modify the game.

but that is by choice, it doesn't mean that someone or group can't hope they make quality of life improvements. the user doesn't know if their request is an easy one or a hard one.

also, their unwillingness to update for quality of life changes, and "balancing" direction is probably why they only have a current peak of around 800 users per day...

I'm still a fan and support the company with occasional purchases, but we're all allowed to be critical when we feel appropriate. and their CHOICE to no longer update and improve the user experience is a proper use of criticism.

Indeed, and I agree with you.

But all I'm saying (apart from the "it's probably not as easy as OP think") is PGI took this decision years ago to reroute most (if not all) their development power to MW5. It saddens me because I don't like hat game, but heh, the only thing I can do is yell in the desert...
Meanwhile MWO is on life support. But not every player knows that, and I suspect OP did not (they're quite new), that why I had to be the party pooper.

I usually browse the MWO Forums on my browser while waiting for QP queue.
If I'm lucky, I can even help out a new MWO player on the forums! ;)

love it when people put words in my mouth to make their point valid.
And even if its not easy? is that a reason to not doing it?going this route in my everyday life good luck putting food on the table.
Faction warfare was meant to give mechwarrior a greater goal, so lets start with the little things, even if its a difficult task.
Without players in the queue it wont get anywhere. And i dont have enough time to sit infront of my pc watching youtube stuff when i want to play a game (doing mechlab stuff is also a way to play this game).i am pretty sure 90% of the playerbase sees it the same way (the FW queue speaks for itself)

The problem goes all the way back to 2011/2012 when the core game infrastructure was designed and developed. The only way to achieve what the OP wants is to basically redo the game from the ground-up. That's why PGI has never changed this behavior. In their effort to churn out a working game quickly, they made some decisions that created limitations for later. If they did develop a new PvP game, I'm sure they'd take their lessons learned into consideration.

forum warrior while you wait. you can always screw around with builds in mechdb and import next time you finish a match.

but i generally agree. one of the reasons i liked mwll better was you were in match for a full hour. you would have to wait to respawn but it was generally better to keep your mech alive and repair/reload as much as possible. fp was a little better in this reguard, you would get a 30-60 second break between drops but then you would have 10+ minute wait finding the match, 5 minutes is not uncommon in qp now. mwo2 needs to be open world imho.

MechDB (nav-alpha.com)

You can toy around with builds or build our your mechs while the circle is spinning using this. I'll usually have one built out while I wait, and just plug in the Import Code - and it saves me that much more time in the Mechlab. Just be sure to run in Full Window mode. This game does not like Alt-Tabbing in Fullscreen.
