Most folks like having choices, and the ability to avoid crappy maps, just sayin.

The thing nobody seems to want to actually say outright.

"Screw everyone who likes the current system, they are not important. My specific opinion is objectively superior and the correct path forward. Coincidentally it's also what's best for the game."

Well that's a disproportionately angry response.

And bring back night mode to suppress farm snipers.

Three set of times per map, morning/evening, high noon and midnight, thus each map would have three alternate maps. Make these random though. Pick a map then role the dice on which one you get :)

Is this not the core of everyone's statement who supports it?

Like, let's at least put out in the open who benefits, and often glossed over, who it's okay to screw over.

There isn't much choice anyway since the player base in tier 2 and 1 only play 3 maps constantly, you might get a token bog or solaris city. But anything else should be consider non existent, by how much hpg, mining, and vitric station.

Fought against it being added to begin with long ago, but it was added and has always sucked and always will.

I remember that and I was right there with you.

Hello everyone,

I don't want to make a big deal out of this, but it's really about time that this map voting was finally removed from the game.

I hate this system more than the non-existent matchmaker, because out of 10 games...9 are on the same crappy map (HPG)...and of course the masses of snipers choose it again and again and again so that they can pursue their passion for camping and sniping.

In the past 24 hours I have played 6 matches and 5 of those matches were one Mining Collective. Most of those were skirmish. So, it is not always HPG.

If you don't like the maps, then use your voting multiplier to vote for something else. I do this all the time. I will vote for an 'off' map to get my multiplier up so that when a map comes up that I DO like, I can vote for it. I love the maps that are heavily vertical scaled e.g. Solaris City or Hellebore. I play jumpy mechs most of the time and attacking from odd angles is fun for me.

I actually think removing map voting would be fine, but if you could pick Mechs after voting for Map these issues go away. Since neither of these options will happen, lets hope they can rework the maps a bit more. Spawns etc.

Nah. Map voting is a very cool feature. It is perfect actually. And it is fun. You can't even see the votes unless you vote. Progressive multipliers promote the marginalized to get a say too. How cool is that.

And it is like one more chance to align the map to your mech build. If it does not happen - so be it - you have to challenge yourself and grow. You cant just sit in your comfort bubble.

One correction I do see, Is that there should be less bias in rotations. All maps should run. Equally. All modes should run. And, if you do get a batch of snipers, lets say from 7pm - 9pm, for some reason, and they just keep voting for the same map over and over - the question arises. "Why is there the same map popping up for vote over and over??" This should not be happening!

Tech code wise. Maps can be classified on the back end. Sniper friendly, brawl friendly etc. The system could then use that classification to detect a statistical voting anomaly, and will trigger an adjustment to the rotation. Adjustment will counter the "temporary majority sniper group" that have coincidentally gathered from 7pm-9pm, and keeps voting for sniper maps. Same goes for excessive, brawling maps, nascar inducing maps, LRM fest fields etc.
