TTB made me aware the grand summoner "Talon" will have a Supercharger MK III, what will that do? is its function consistent with Sarna.net information?

I am liking my Summoner IIs so far, except for the T variant, they are basically Hellbringers with more armor and no ECM.

I works like MASC in the game, but if you use it along with MASC you go even faster, with a greater chance of destroying your engine.

MASC has accel/decel/turn rate boosts and is commonly used to not only get to a higher speed, but get there faster as well as maneuver in a fight.

SC is speed only so you use it not to fight but to reposition quickly. If you use it in a fight all you're doing is scrambling your crosshairs.

I would have retouched the overall appearance at least, but if everybody its ok with it...and the tag price, then I guess it must be fine.

I am not OK with it. The arms should be different, those half baked bolt-ons they added to the arms look nothing like the official art for the Grand Summoner.

I get that the Grand Summoner is a Jade Falcon mech, but the warhorn is disappointing IMO

Sarna says other Clans use the mech too, either by buying / trading for them or getting them as isorla. The warhorn is not bad and would be cool for a Jade Falcon though. My favorite variant is my modified C variant.

There are certainly iJJ in MWO but locked to the Grand Summoner in the bonus E torsos.

I did not notice that the E torso pods were available, but with hard mounted JJ and no weapon slots, they are just not worth taking, since the mech would be worse than a standard Summoner.

So, a Dark Age (3093) OmniMech with increased armor and capacity has graced us?

Well, that's... awesome. I love Dark Age stuff.
Now, if we had Iron Cheetah...
Or a Omni-turned Black Knight, or Crab...

No. The super charger gives you more top speed (like masc) but no extra acceleration (unlike masc).

-they should have added the supercharger to the game as an optional piece of equipment ... Im entertaining the idea that's next though, PGI has been adding more stuff to the game in the last couple of years than it did in the first 10...or so I heard...

I would debate that, but you actually net out 0.5 tons ahead of the original SMN with just 1 torso. Jump performance is slightly better. Ultimately it was a balance decision that the GS could not flat out obsolete the SMN. There are plenty of poptart range, bracket, or missile builds that can be run with iJJs.

Timeline has no bearing on what is added or not. MW5 is adherent to timeline, MWO is not anymore.

Then you end up with nothing but low-slung arm-mounted weapons, that are in many ways worse than their Inner-Sphere counterparts due to "balancing".

I was thinking about MwO then. Indeed, Iron Cheetah was introduced two years after Tukayyid.

I disagree, PGI seems to "loosely" follow the timeline. That being said though, I would like to see them add the Shrike.

As a cauldron member, let me assure you that they don’t. When I conceptualized the Grand Summoner, the main thing on my mind was Summoner with Endosteel for more guns. When PGI looked it over, not once did timeline come up. It took a while before anything related to Dark Age or wizkids even surfaced and had no bearing on any decisions.

Then I guess it has just been coincidence that PGI has released mechs and tech somewhat in sync with the timeline. Maybe before they start working on a MW5 Clans DLC, they should add the Word of Blake to MWO similar to how they introduced the Clans (this would also create assets that they could use for future MW5 DLCs).

Not worth the effort adding anything like that, particularly to faction. The most you might get is a Word of Blake specific decal. The Clan Wolverines decal was just added this past patch.

New variants of existing mechs are chosen for their ability to bring new dynamics to play. For example, the Black Hawk KU reused the clan mech with some geo changes. Tech base was swapped and it was quirked for IS weapons. The coming loyalty Vindi gives a much maligned mech a lasvom option. The coming loyalty Firestarter gives that mech an energy missile combo option. The Red Reaper Black Knight was chosen as a follow up to the Onyx Centurion because it had a shield in lore and was a logical choice, no timeline consideration.

New chassis are chosen by PGI for their applicability to MW5 Clans, which as the new flagship IP will get most of the dev attention. Any new chassis must first be applicable to the Clan invasion and near term timeline (of which there is materials for nearly a dozen dlc that I can think of). None of those involve the WoB, so by that logic I would not hold out hope for an archangel or something.

I realize that MWO only exists to finance MW5 and beyond and staying in the 4th Succession War / Clan Invasion era is fine, since there are still a lot of mechs that have not been added yet, mainly since they are so similar to existing variants (although you could argue that the Grand Summoner is too similar to the Summoner). In the future though, the next time they feel like advancing the tech, then WOB would be good (and I know that there is already a WOB cockpit item).

Would love to see the Mongrel/Grendel added to the MWO. Heck, a Mad Cat III would be nice.

Possible, but in my opinion not worth it.

Grendel is something like over-engined Shadow Cat. It moves 16 km/h faster, but it pays for it with even less tonnage for weapons (approximately 3-4 tons less, depending on the loadout).

The majority of Mad Cat Mk. III's variants are various energy/missile loadouts.

Just buy Stormcrow and you can do the same kind of loadouts. Actually, Stormcrow is OmniMech, so once you get bored with running energy/missile weapons, you can use various OmniPods to come with something different.

The problem with a lot of the Clan Mechs in MWO is that they do not have a lot of weapons, because clan weapons are supposed to be better than IS weapons up until around the Fedcom Civil war (which is about the timeline we are in), even then only the newer IS weapons were nearly on par with Clan Tech. Since Clan weapons are nerfed to be as bad or worse than IS weapons in MWO, these mechs would just be garbage in MWO.
