Energy ammo crashed the dev build. Therefore, no energy ammo.

They could have just coded it as a ballistic weapon with ballistic ammo, but made it look and fire like a PPC. But the version in game is good, just not very lore accurate.

We discussed it. Since there was an energy projectile weapon in lore (plasma) we used the plasma name rather than create clan LPPC. If your next point is “what if we wanted to create a ranged heat weapon”, easy, no ranged stunlock. The lore plasma will never happen.
(...)

Now you know, what ComStar had to deal with, during IS-wide HPG shutdown in Dark Age (all that klugding through the old code...) Posted Image

But I wouldn't elaborate further, since even remarking it as ballistic would mess up things.

Anyway, that being said, I would like to see them add the Axeman to the game. I know the Axe on the Axeman would be a waste of tonnage and crit slots in MWO like it is on the Hatchetman, though. They could then add it to MW5 and Mercenaries where you could actually use the axe.

Not a bad choice, but probably Axman (as it is its proper name) would be indeed better suited for the MW5 games. Including Clans Posted Image

I'm not seeing anything special about this mech and to be honest, I drop with friends/unit members. With the new tonnage restrictions why would I spend money on something over 60 tons at most which I can mimic with numerous other mechs already in my stable/hanger? Why would I buy this?

A 4-man premade can still drop as as 1 light 'Mech, 1 Heavy and 2 Assaults.

But of course, it is still your choice if you buy something or not.

Is there going to be a challenge event like there usually is when a new mech is released? The Blackhawk had one.

If they did add the Axman, they could sell a "1st Somerset Strikers" set that is similar to the Warden, Bloodname and Hunter packs that includes the Axman and Bushwhacker with some special extras (not that I need any of these Inner Sphere freebirth mechs).

Throw in a 'Falcon's Claws' set and we'd have a real party.

That one would be easy, since the Summoner-M, Vulture Prime and Hunchback IIC are already in the game. Just need cartoon-accurate paint jobs and some cockpit items. Make an elemental bolt-on pack like the Warden pack has to represent Natalia's Elementals.

I guess you would have to add the Mauler to the Somerset pack to make the amount of mechs even though.
