The addition of these has completely ruined the light balance in the game. If you run any light that doesn't spam ballistic slots, you're ******* dead the moment someone who does comes around with AP Gauss/Magshot.
Those weapons should have never been added to the game.

Wow someone is salty.
You do realize that they only do like 2 points of damage and have a good 2 second cool down time before you can fire again right?
Meaning for every 2 points you do with a AP/MAG you can get 4.2 from a heavy machine gun before you can even pull the trigger again. Then you got the ammo/ton you only get 100 rounds of AP/mag where you get 1800 HMG. Heck the HMG and the AC/Mag even weigh the same and take the same amount of slots.
What exactly are you wanting to nerf here? or are you just salty cause someone basically took you out with what basically boils down to a single .50 cal shotgun blast to the face?
For example take the Adder Warthog. Stock with nothing but HMG it's got a firepower of 105/250, You replace all those HMG for AP/Mag's and your firepower drops to 28.5/250.

nah their fine, and working as intended.
PS
any light that doesnt pack fire power should think of anything better than finding himself alone with such mechs.
you rolling a commando? (just for the sake of argument) running around on your own? you found an adder at the turn of the corner? yes that commando is most likely dead.
strength in numbers:
roll with other lights and stay close
stay near bigger mechs like assaults, they r more likely the prime target.
pick a different mech?
stop playing the commando (or any such weak mech), the game doesnt force you to play it, such mechs are meant as a challenge for the most daring of mechwarriors, you dont know joy until you kill 5 mech with an urbie IIC and are the last one standing mind you.
pick a different mech that isnt a light:
this game has like how many? 400 mechs? lights are a minority , you rarely will see a lot of those to begin with and thats part of their charm if you ask me, plenty of folks enjoy the challenge that comes with them. personally...if it was up to me though I wouldnt ve added them in the first place to the game...other than as a AI controlled support ability like "call for a flea to run a certain path and scout" for example, but rather focused more on mediums, heavies and assaults, and melee, and running animation that makes sense according to physics, and better jump jets, dash moves, blocking (torso twist is gimmickie I should be able to use my arms) proper coalitions, but nvm ...could be here all day.
be creative
my favorite, pop an uav while piloting an incubus, just for the target to turn, look up and invite a backstabbing, was happy to oblige.
be a copycat (my favorite)
try to emulate the tactics and loadout of the mech that kills you? learn the strengths and weakness of such a loadout? I used to think lrmers were op, then I realized most dedicated lrmers stay well in the back, alone, easily distracted, and pack very little to nothing in the form of self defense.
PPS
the solution is not to remove the/any weapon (if anything the solution should be to go and play something else), in this game every body is complaining about any weapons all the time, you arent any different, and it doesnt make sense to try to please complainers, it always backfires...unless they are right, but an opinion is never right or wrong, that's why they are called opinions.
