I will say that in a Fire Moth, Warthogs are terrifying. I see a 'Mech with fourteen APG and the mobility to keep them pointed at me more-or-less consistently, I see a reason to be somewhere else as swiftly as 209kph can get me there. All it needs is one good hit with those things to chop parts offa me, and at 2.15s fire rate it's likely to get that good hit if I give it much more'n five seconds to shoot.
That said, it's kind of an apples to oranges thing, heh. The Warthog is a destroyer escorting the battleships - its job is generally to ride the outflanks of its own team and intercept fast skirmishy things like...y'know, Fire Moths...and dissuade them, ideally lethally, while ambushing enemy flankers and scouts. The Fire Moth is contending with the Piranha for the title of Butt Chewing Maestro; more than basically any other light 'Mech, the Fire Moth's job is to find a soft, unguarded portion of the enemy team and stick a knife in it.
I'm not actually sure the Fire Moth is the best 'Mech in MWO for doing that, honestly. It's certainly loads of fun, 209kph is a treat, but outside the red-laser knife fighters the 'Mech is severely lacking in firepower. It can't stick as big a knife into the soft spots as something like a Piranha or an Osiris, and it's not as good at diving in and sticking there to twist the knife as either of those, either. It can certainly find soft spots neither of those two can due to its sheer speed, but it feels like I have to work way harder for my score in an FMT than I do in an OSR.
'Course, the Long Flank and Outrider games are incredible, hehe. The Fire Moth is the undisputed master of positioning and maneuver battles, and the fact that nothing but another Fire Moth can remotely hope to catch the durned thing gives it options no other 'Mech has. Inasmuch as the Fire Moth actually changes what you can do and get away with in MWO? It gets my vote, heh.
