When have you seen Clanners who aren't Dezgra entering into Solaris... And keep in mind the combat in Solaris completely goes against Zellbrigen. Trials of Position are not Solaris matches and are much much different. The fighting in a Trial of Position is 1v1 for all 3 oponents of the MechWarrior earning his place. There is a chance of a Grand Melee but it is hardly ever risked because it often ends in catastrophy for that MechWarrior(along with the other one in the Trial)and their career as a MechWarrior. Clanners participating in Trials are still adhering to Zellbrigen and all the clan rules of Honor during those trials... Very diff. from a Solaris match...
OK you have the general idea but you need some clarification on a few things.
1. The fact that a melee CAN ensue once a cadet fires intentionally or accidentally on a mech not engaged in battle at the time, during a Trial of Position means that the Clans have catered for it & allow it, which means it is NOT dishonorable.
2. The Grand Melee is a separate event held in a Trial of Bloodright. 32 participants are allowed to fight in the knockout rounds, however only 31 of them are sponsored by a warrior who already holds the Bloodname. The 32nd slot is filled by the warrior who wins the Grand Melee. For the record, the Grand Melee is just that; it is a HUGE free for all. It is not dishonorable at all. The knockout rounds tests skill & precision while the Grand Melee tests survival skills.
Hope that clears up any misconceptions you may have had.
