Greetings Mechwarriors!

This weekend, MWO Comp will be running a Master's Challenge: Reborn event! Players will be randomly drawn randomly from twitch chat to 1v1 or 2v2 a master player in a weight class of the challenger's choosing. If the challenger wins, they can choose any mech in the game as their prize(excluding Gold, Sarah, Founders, and Phoenix mechs). For the 2v2 section, players must come with their partner ready.
The events will be taking place on https://www.twitch.tv/mwoleagues and will have three different cycles to ensure it is accessible to all regions! Each cycle will run 2 hours.

  • EU Cycle: March 1st at 11AM PST / 7PM UTC
  • NA Cycle: March 1st at 6PM PST / 2AM UTC March 2nd
  • OCE Cycle: March 2nd at 4AM PST / 12PM UTC
For any questions or comments, please join the MWO Comp discord to ask or discuss with the staff! https://discord.gg/6wxM5hC

MWO World Clock:
http://www.mwomercs.com/clock

Now that's what I call marketing! Hats off to MWO!!

I wants my Leopard Dropship mech, and my VIP Atlas mech! ;)

But seriously, a Gold Dire Wolf or a Gold Timber Wolf would be lovely!
(And how about making the Gold camo a chassis-wide unlock?)

Given the age of the average MWO player, Twitch still is the best platform for such an event

What is a Phoenix mech? I know what the other 3 refer to, but this is the first I have heard of "Phoenix mechs" before.

One of the first mechpacks. They are noted with the same (P) as platinum mechs which is confusing.

Its a long time ago but iirc the mechs were Locust, Shadohawk, Thunderbolt and Battlemaster as the main pack, Griffin and Wolverine as the bonus pack.

I think it was so early they simply have no way of giving them out anymore.

Edit. Seems the community voted for it to be exclusive so it might be the reason.

The idea is cool, of course, but it probably covers no more than a quarter of MWO players (or even less). And with a two-hour cycle duration, most of the planet is out of the question.

Will there be anything interesting for the general public?

Probably true .... and Discord is the worst. It's stream of consciousness in chat form. I jumble of disjointed sentences that is the worst way to convey anything useful.

This Masters Challenge is a cool concept, and brilliant marketing!
Details can be ironed out better, but hey, hats off to MWO for trying hard with a good idea!

Fewer folks use Twitch… wouldn't this increase your chances of success? :)

Me thinks sometimes the forums can be a tad more positive sometimes...

great stuff, super entertaining to watch some of these mechs go at it.

Not sure why people seem so proud of being luddites, but you don't "get" twitch. You just go to the website.

Sad that there's a really great event that is entertaining, educational, and a fun way to get involved in the community if you choose (plus, a nice reward if you wish to participate)

Guess it's just easier to complain about compies or something.

Thanks for putting this on, I'd love to watch more (I know this was apparently a regular thing at some point but I missed that boat)

to watch yes one could just go to the website, to participate though , you need to get twitch. not sure why an explanation was required. really not looking forward to this kind of events.

Both players should play the same Trial mech.

My other thoughts about this would be punished ;-)

Pretty sure if you asked the master would honor the request:)

Technology can be confusing to some, each to their own, was fun to watch and learn.

Masters events are always a lot of fun, thanks for putting this on ESPECIALLY running one during OCE time.

A special thank you to Tobos who now needs to run the injections xD
