Mad Dog Sigma Legend Mech

BATTLEPASS PROGRESS LINK: MWO: The Legendary Mechs

PLEASE NOTE: REDEEM BATTLEPASS REWARDS ON THE WEBSITE STORE PAGE (UPDATED EVERY HOUR)

Store Adjustments

  • Apache released for MC
  • Spectre released for MC
  • Multiple warhorns released for MC

Note: We’ve kind of been slacking on updating the warhorns released for MC. We are doing a large backlog of old warhorns and adding them all to the store for 750 MC. In the future, a mech pack, booster, or legend will have its warhorn released for 750 MC 8 months after the pack releases. Loyalty, reward, or prestige warhorns will not be released. Standing and hanging items from these packs will not be released. The warhorns that have been added to the ingame store for 750 MC this patch are Clan Gatlin, Retro Mini, Retro Handheld, Cicada, American Thanksgiving, Stryker, Warden, Hunter, Predator, Bloodname, Crusader, Hatchetman, Moonwalker, Juggernaut, Dreadnaught, Scattershot, Arges, Seraph, Desperada, Howl, Gausszilla, Stone Crusher, Stone Rhino, Scaleshot, War Emu, Warlord, Hashke, Abaddon, Blight, Gorewing, Onyx, Longbow, Aksum, Spitfire, Sovereign, Li Dok To, Red Reaper, Kasai, Black Hawk-KU, Bullshark, Ferroblast, Behemoth, and Argent.

Gameplay Changes

  • Wolf Dragoons Booster Pack badge changed to Wolf Dragoons logo. The decal and cockpit item art have not changed.
  • Conquest returned to 750 tickets to win and reactivated for Quick Play.

Note from Tiyos: “While I feel the Grand Conquest event was a successful experiment, there’s a lot I learned on how it can be improved for the future. The biggest need is adding Faction Play style spawn walls and perhaps even turrets to prevent spawn camping in such extended matches. I hope to bring back Grand Conquest again but at some point down the road where I have more time to properly plan things and make the required changes.”

  • When mechs look down far enough for the arm reticle to clip through the minimap, the minimap now becomes semi-transparent to allow the player to see the arm reticle and other HUD elements under the minimap, as shown in the example below. The minimap behaves as before in any other situation.

Patch Files (Direct Download)

To make the patching process easier for players with limited download caps, we'll be providing direct download links for the patch file(s) that comprise this patch. This will allow you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, for manual injection into the MWO patcher through a Patch Cache folder.

Aside from allowing you to download the patch file(s) elsewhere, on another connection, there are no additional benefits to performing the patch this way; the patching process itself will be the same.

This direct patch download process will only work for players running the standalone client. It does not apply to players running MWO through Steam.

  • Download the above file(s)
  • For sake of ease, we recommend creating a dedicated folder for the patch file(s), such as 'MWO Patch Cache'
  • You do not need to unzip or unpack the patch file(s)
  • Launch the MWO Portal
  • Select the three horizontal lines in the top left of the Portal Window
  • Choose the 'Specify Patch File Cache' option
  • In the field that appears, paste or enter the location in which you saved the patch file(s) and hit OK
  • For example, C:\Users\<username>\Documents\MWO Patch Cache
  • Click the blue Patch button
  • The launcher will now check the Patch Cache folder you defined. If it locates the required patch files, it will unpack and use those files to apply the patch
  • Once the patch is complete, launch the game

I am so happy to see some more nerfs for overperformers! Posted Image
Especially the Incubus, that has been the de facto easy mode farm light mech for a while now

Now when is the Shadow cat getting nerfed?
And the Summoner buffs look interesting but maybe a bit much? it's already a pretty good mech imo.
The Mauler buffs look good imo.

sadly i am very disappointed with the Mad Dog Sigma only 2 energy HP, and they gave it 4 JJ's they could of done MUCH better, and even the HP on the mech are in the lower part of the torsos..........just another energy boat thats not needed

Interesting! I love the Mad Dog in general so I was curious about what the legendary would bring.
Minus 83% large laser duration- am I reading that right? So a Heavy Large Laser would have a duration of like 0.25 seconds (before skills)? Unless my quick math is wrong (entirely possible!), that's gonna be wild.
Also excited about all the warhorns hitting the store. I don't suppose those would fall under the patch science sale, eh?

As a frequent Incubus pilot I am curious what brought about some of the nerfs? Based on the QP dump released a while back (below) it falls about average in terms of matchscore and damage. Didn't include the whole list here as it is long and doesnt copy well, but it was this https://docs.google....#gid=1582927142 from last months patch discussion. Plenty of lights have higher match-score, output and more drops.
Chassis Tonnage Total Drops W/L K/D Survival % "Kills permatch" AVG-S AVG-D P-All "P-wc"
INCUBUS 30 19624 1.00 0.91 29.42% 0.65 240.19 327.99 0.75% 3.63%
I am, obviously, a bit bias as I enjoy the mech as is, that said stats don't indicate it is OP. Nor is over utilized in general or in weight class.

Thank you MWO for making minimap now becomes semi-transparent as needed!

One of my pet peeves for a long time; thank you for caring! ;)

BTW, quite a patch! Looking foward to it, especially the Legendary Mad Dog! :)

Removing all of the survival quirks from Maulers seems very excessive. I can't really see myself using one ever again, they'll die way too easily.

Come on Tiyos. I know you've played Faction before. You shouldn't have needed this experiment to tell you that.

I hope to bring back Grand Conquest again

Gosh I hope not. There's a damn good reason it was removed from the Faction Play rotation. Conquest is a terrible game mode that needs to die permanently.

Is that Mad Dog's Heavy Laser Duration quirk a Set-Of-8 thing or just the two new torsos?

It didn't have that strong of survival quirks in the first place so removing them it's not gonna lose much, and it gets a huge DPS increase, if it is too glass cannony they'll probably just give it a small survival buff.

Good news, we have weakened all dominant models

Bad news, those useless junk pieces are still junk

This weakened balance will only cause a further decrease in the already limited number of players

So8... it's 0.25s duration for dual HLL. What you're getting out of the MDD is JJ and energy torsos with a fun whacky so8 and the ability to make a jump capable brawler/jumping lasvom.

Yeah, I gathered that. I was also quietly hoping for some kind of duration bonus in the torsos alone so I can swap into my MDD Revenant and make a laser vom build. Still cool though.

The MDD is actually the tankiest Clan lasvom, especially considering most clan lasvom like the EBJ and TBR are glass cannons. If you just add even 1 JJ torso to the Revenant vom build it adds jj fluttering to that tankiness and you still get the full 2LPL 6 ERML (using the Rev CT).

If it somehow is insufficient, adjustments can always be made.

You can take Conquest back and shove it where you were hiding it! Event Queue? Thats great! I don't/won't every play Wacky Mode(AKA Event Queue) so put it back there and I never have to see Conquest again!

MASC Commando durability nerf? Really?
Oh well at least it got its -dur back, and I guess it can cope with "just don't get hit" by using MASC jukes.

Weird decision to have the Summoner buffs be in CT pod quirks (so it's also a buff to the already decent SRMboat Summoner mixpod build) rather than So8 but whatever, I would've also asked for ammo (both missile and ballistic) buff on the Prime too, but more -e.heat is fine I guess.

Also did no one really thought -83% (0.25s HLL burns) on the MDD-Sigma to be a bit too much?
I mean even the STD Laser Trebuchet-5J (similar damage output through 2BLC Loadout with JJs) had -50% duration and then it got nerfed to -40% because hey, someone realized laser duration below 0.7s is too much.
Maybe it'd have more excuse if it's groundbound like the KTO-20.
And running it with ERLL is just meh whatever, NCT-A exists if you want that sort of thing already but better damage output.
Still, I won't say 38 damage 0.25s laser burns to be *that* scary, it's certainly nowhere as intimidating as 2C-UAC20 Bandit/MDD-Cs, unless you're a light or medium in which case it is, nearly Duelist level of scary even (and it moves at 81kph instead).

The Grasshopper +JJ thrust buff seems interesting, but I remember it not being particularly able to jump that high due to the low burntime soooo, probably ends up underwhelming/closer to Vindicator or HGN-IIC.
Pretty lame that the HML JennerIIC got heat nerf too.

Am not happy with those adjustments to the Mauler either. With the 2P losing its missile, laser, and uac heat/jam chance quirks then getting a UAC20 +1 HSL, it feels like I'm being railroaded into playing it a certain way.
