According to the patch notes: https://mwomercs.com...070-18march2025

The Maul is getting changed:
  • WHM-IIC-ML
    • Removed 10% Weapon Velocity
    • Removed -10% Ballistic Cooldown
    • Added -10% STD Gauss Cooldown

I loved running this with 2xcUAC/10 and 2xcLPL. Simple point and click burst damage.

Something like this: https://mwo.nav-alph...90ce_WHM-IIC-ML

What's the plan now? 2xcGauss + some cER-ML as backup? This new direction is super boring.

Because HAG80 damage farmers and the Maul being one of the better platforms for it since it can actually move pretty fast compared to the SR-1 or the like as other HAG80s go.
Sucks that it has to hit AC builds too though, really should just split the -b.cd% to std gauss and AC+UAC -cd% instead.
I mean look at this, 71kph for an assault sniper is pretty fast.
Blood Asp could nev- then again BAS has more armor for what it's worth and way worse decel, also ECM on some variants.

If they were worried about HAG/80 they could have made the ghost heat for HAG/80 more severe and given the mechs they wanted to be able to do HAG/80 a +1 HAG/40 HSL.

Not a fan of this change.

Between the November and January patch, the Maul had the highest avg damage of any mech, even beating the Aksum and Dakka Exe-B. If you are wondering why, that's likely why. The Nightstar 10P and Cyclops Slepnir also overperformed quite a bit compared to the rest, though both were not as strong as the Aksum/Exe-B so shocked that those didn't get nerfed, though I suspect those two, the Mad Dog Bandit, and Vapor Eagle Rival are likely next on the chopping block given their recent performances as well.

HAG40s didn't really need a nerf given they aren't used in any of the other overperforming builds, primarily being an issue with the Maul.

Should have just got a ballstic quirk that'd cover both AC and Hag but no lower tier players don't matter.

Surprised on the Cyclops. Was it the 4xLB10 build? I thought it's day in the sun was over compared to some of current hammers.

No one has posted that sort of data publicly, but I would hazard a guess it is more the builds that are used as a mini BSK-6. So AC5/UAC5 + some number of LPPCs.

How does the Cyclops Slepnir 4xUAC5 compare to the newly re-quirked MAL-1P again 4xUAC5 with -20% Jam chance, 20% Cooldown, -10% Heat?

Cyclops wins in the Info Warfare department, and is a little more agile.
Mauler MAL-1P is more of a brute force fellow...

Looks like a general trend to claw back some of the power creep of the last few years. I hope for more and doing it bit by bit would be a good way.

The only nerf Sovereign got through the last year was the B-A arm pod losing *some* (not even all) of its -b.cd% quirks.
https://mwo.nav-alph...9a73_EXE-B-CLGD
Also the Prime's LT pod has -b.cd% that stacks with it since it's a pod meant for the regular Executioner where that isn't such an power up with the low ballistic hardpoint count (or free tonnage to even run a lot of them with the heavier engine+MASC).

The only real excuses Sovereign has for all the stuff it has (ANH with JJs, agility, potent cooldown quirk, and better hitpoint count more or less) are being locked to cFF instead of cEndo, and low-wide arm mounts at best,

Too bad I bought it for my most recent HAH80 build... Really... Shame.
