Hello all,

Last September there was some discussion about headshots, and one thing lead to another when I started playing around with the trial Thunderbolt 9S.

I started documenting my games while trying to focus on getting headshots and I got hooked when I realized the guillotine was a possible goal.

Here we are some 6 months later, and I finally got the 1000 headshots. I created a video each month to mark my progress on YouTube here: http://www.youtube.c...Herod-42/videos

I recognize I am not getting any younger, so "achievements" in video games are probably more in the rear view mirror, but this one felt pretty good. Here is my last 50, and including a small blooper reel of me taking my own medicine. Posted Image

That you can do this in HEAT vision mode where everything's roughly one large white mass, on moving targets, already accounting for the travel time of various different weapons, is terrifying.

Congratulations Herod!!!!

It has been so awesome watching you grind through this, awesome gameplay man!! It was so cool to see someone like you in the top tier doing this, really puts the myth that headshots only happen in Tier V with substandard pilots in the trashcan where it belongs!

I annotated every one of your final headshots in order as they happen in the video, calling out the current Jarl's of each headshotted and added some extra color where it came up:

Herod’s last victims and ranks as per Jarl’s list:

Thanks very much! Interesting breakdown but want to make it clear that it's not a flex to me. As the end of the video shows, the headshot gods giveth and they taketh away. :D

Absolutely man, there has never been even the smallest wiff of flex since you started the chase, I think that's one of the reasons its been so cool to follow, like you were curious and put yourself out there. Ya make the community and game better Herod, toppies! Indexing was the least I could do to say thanks as a fan!

And how awesome was the catapult shot? on the drop!

I know a player, who is nowhere near (not on same planet) the skill level of Herod who has it...now that is truly terrifying.

Poor Janet Yellen, at the beginning. Lol. Nice video. Some of those ridge peak and pokes looked downright predatory. Impressive.

That was really impressive to watch - nice job! I've been inspired to do the same thing now.

Looks like dual HGR and triple HPPC are the winners here. I think I'd prefer the triple HPPC myself.

I have to wonder if I was one of your victims, last week on Luthien I was just minding my own business (no red team in sight at that moment), and someone from (I think) at least 500m away one shot me at the very start of the game, through the trees, I never even saw them.

:) It was not me, at least not on this account. I haven't watched this video yet but some of his previous videos had few games where his headshots were done with ERLL/ERML, that was even more impressive.

In spite of all the excellent videos on headshot drives now available (especially yours) I've heard so many salty victims accusing people of using aimb0ts the last week, really disheartening. I'd say now more than ever the pursuit and techniques for getting headshots is public, almost common knowledge.

I think most of the time its people just being petty and not wanting to accept that they were doing things that made them vunerable to being headshotted. And griping feeds griping, two nights ago a guy on the other team dropped one of our guys on Polar highlands, he'd stealthed up into our lines and waited, our Atlas was LRM'ing the center and got popped in the eye. He complained and suddenly one of the other guys on our team started filling voip with how the other guy was a 'known' cheater and this jut amplified the orig victim and they started a hurling abuse in general chat. The part that blew my mind was the victim had been standing still for most of the match (which I'm also guilty of when playing LRMS) but when someone mentioned moving the guy swore that he never stopped moving and that "it must be an aimbot!!!!".

Next drop, both the shooter and the victim are on our team and the shooter starts trying to calmly explain to the victim how he had done it and the victim just loses his mind and start swearing and saying all the nonsene that the guy is a "know cheater", uses aimbots, etc... and insists that he "never stops moving".

People just blow my mind, instead of congratulating someone on a good shot and learning from it people would rather lie to themselves and refuse to acknowledge making moves that leave them open to be headshotted, or backshot, overheated, any of the death mistakes.

Hey Herod, I've always assumed that its a low tier issue and that up in your tier I matches nobody complains about it, am I right?

A lot of players shave a lot of armor rom the head, which makes them vulnerable to headshots.

Good hunting,

For complaints?

-Maybe- there is more acceptance in Tier 1 because there were more positive "nice shot!" or neutral "oh darn!" comments than hackusations over all, but that's not to say some people didn't get salty.

I'd chalk some of it up to what kind of day someone is having.

Yeah that's what I meant. I figured pilots at your tier know its actually possible, and I have no doubt they get salty up there as well!!! Posted Image

I rewatched the last video with a mate last night, and he buggered off to log on and buy a Tbolt, I think you may have created a monster!
