The new gauntlets are fun and fast, offer some interesting options. Big problem is the light ferro, so few slots left over for actual custom arrangements. Also all the quirks are full set of 8 when limits things even more. The useless nature of ECM v.s. Stealth in something like the Guantlet turned out to be way worse then the worries I had last week. ECM is rubbish where you will be with the Gaunlet, huge oversight... HUGE.

Either way I'm glad I was able to support the game, and its infrastructure with a purchase just as I am with all my booster and legend pickups. That said, I'm afraid I have to discourage other folks from buying it unless they are mostly buying legends and boosters to help fund the game because all the built-in limitations of the mech effectively ruin what should have been a no-brainer amaze-balls release.

TLDR; if you want to help PGI keep the lights on buy the Gauntlet booster, otherwise keep your money for something better.

Yeah 5 more hours trying these out and my opinion is not getting any better. Have run each variant in 10+ matches each and the hardpoint choices are egregious, so stingy and poorly thought out. What's the point of being able blitz around the battlefield if you arrive with the weapon loadout of a heat starved light?

The special variant key benefit is the Supercharger CT. For example, since the 10B 2 snubs 8 small laser with ECM build doesn't use the so8 quirks, you can rebuild it on the -1O CT and go extra fast.

Other mixed pod builds can also use the SC effectively. For example 2 SRM6 in torsos and 10 SPL in arms.

The CT is quite strong and can be a variant of typical builds depending on whether you want to invest the 1 ton or not.

Also... who here has scanned the QR code that's in the Gauntlet decal? Posted Image

What's your problem mate? Can I only compliment things and be silent if something sucks?

We should ignore the horrible product? pretend that it has a suitable hardpoints v.s. slots v.s. weight? clasp hands and sing?

And finally Woq my post was made before that post was made, so maybe go hassle them? And for your info I tried that NICE suggestion and its just as much hot garbage as the rest of the Gauntlet, ignoring this kind of subpar/lazy design by PGI or Cauldron (actually just 3 guys on Cauldron...) is only going to mean more garbage down the road.

Part of the deal with supporting a game, especially at this point in its life-cycle is to be HONEST praise and reinforce what is done well and thought out, and call out lazy, terrible design that will only take money from supporters without adding to current game.

Sort yourself out.

Been here before, so that's why nobody cares. You're free to complain though, although how much weight that will hold is subjective.

The main issue with the Gauntlet is its a omnimech that utilizes IS equipment. Clan tech and equipment is built and balanced around the fact that Clan mechs have omnimechs and thus limited space and tonnage for use. IS equipment tends to be heavier and larger (slot wise.) Its essentially two different "kits."

Omnimechs tend to not benefit well with IS equipment because of that. Hence the Gauntlet is going to feel lackluster. It could use some tweaks in regards to bringing up its set of 8s with limited hardpoints. Ill agree with that.

ECM will always be an extremely strong piece of equipment and not sure what your gripe is with it. Maybe you mean with stealth? Which .... stealth is ok in only certain aspects. The only other piece of equipment that is stronger than ECM in this game is MASC....and even that got hit recently.
