The new gauntlets are fun and fast, offer some interesting options. Big problem is the light ferro, so few slots left over for actual custom arrangements. Also all the quirks are full set of 8 when limits things even more. The useless nature of ECM v.s. Stealth in something like the Guantlet turned out to be way worse then the worries I had last week. ECM is rubbish where you will be with the Gaunlet, huge oversight... HUGE.
Either way I'm glad I was able to support the game, and its infrastructure with a purchase just as I am with all my booster and legend pickups. That said, I'm afraid I have to discourage other folks from buying it unless they are mostly buying legends and boosters to help fund the game because all the built-in limitations of the mech effectively ruin what should have been a no-brainer amaze-balls release.
TLDR; if you want to help PGI keep the lights on buy the Gauntlet booster, otherwise keep your money for something better.
The main issue with the Gauntlet is its a omnimech that utilizes IS equipment. Clan tech and equipment is built and balanced around the fact that Clan mechs have omnimechs and thus limited space and tonnage for use. IS equipment tends to be heavier and larger (slot wise.) Its essentially two different "kits."
Omnimechs tend to not benefit well with IS equipment because of that. Hence the Gauntlet is going to feel lackluster. It could use some tweaks in regards to bringing up its set of 8s with limited hardpoints. Ill agree with that.
ECM will always be an extremely strong piece of equipment and not sure what your gripe is with it. Maybe you mean with stealth? Which .... stealth is ok in only certain aspects. The only other piece of equipment that is stronger than ECM in this game is MASC....and even that got hit recently.
