Just finished a match on HPG and was killed by machine gun fire while behind cover bigger than my Assassin ( no parts were exposed) by taking damage thru the object to my front armor from an Adder Anyone else seen this or been taken out from it? If this is the case I'll just uninstall and move on to something worth the time i've blown on this dying title.

you sure it was the machine gun fire that got you? are you 100% sure you were totally behind the cover?

Perhaps there's a Stealth Pirates Bane with MG near ya?
I have not seen anything shooting through objects...

Hey Jaxon, you reminded me of a match earlier today where something similar happened, but I'm not the one who killed ya. Something that you can keep in mind though is that the Assassin is a mech a bit taller than it's cockpit view point. I've seen Assassin pilots hide behind an item blocking line of sight to their mech's torsos - they'd then run out at full throttle for just a sec, hit full reverse and pull back into cover, firing when fully exposed but getting you to splash your return fire. Any laser or machine gun fire aiming at their body ends up only being glancing, not a full burn and not much impact on the bullets.
The thing is, the "hitscan" nature of machine guns mean you just have to point it at one target and even with the ping and host state rewind, the machine gun really has very little travel time and will do it's DOT. If you as a pilot see this tactic being used against you from an Assassin and can get up just a little elevation, you aim at the highest antenna on the Assassin, like the little radar dish or the mast and just hold your MGs down, that damage is done to CT and the Assassin expires. If I recall correctly, there also was a central lower rear CT hit box of the Assassin that registered as being hit in the front CT. Both these can confuse a pilot as to why or how they are being hit when they are protecting an open front side torso or open CT. Even if I could fire with the lower lasers on my own mech against a hiding Assassin/smaller mech behind cover, I've found any high or torso mount machine guns often do a great job hitting head stalk/antennas and areas thats still count as CT. I've not done it alot lately, but I do find it surprises some pilots that their cover isn't as great as they think it is as they're parked behind it.

The Blood Asp is the poster child for this kind of thing. You can be killed by an LMG Incubus from literally over the horizon according to your cockpit view.
