Ancient Chess rule- you only get better by playing against opponents who are better than you (that means you need to get beat, a lot. The Tier system merely helps make this beat down more gentle and gradually exposing you to better and better opponents.
I barely recognize anything in the OP, maybe an extremely rare person with too much sugar in their tea, but actual verbal abuse is so rare it's an aberration, not the norm.
Anyways, page two and still nobody has posted this?

OP- this is where you need to start, read it, memorize it, then teach it to your team mates during game, and you'll start to, not just win games, but win respected too.
Tier 4 is the fun zone, enough T 3 players to not feel like a mECH gOD, but enough occasional T5 players to make you feel better about yourself and not give up hope.
At this writing I haven't played in a few weeks, been playing the full MW5 set I recently finished buying... but I fully expect MWO to be the same when I come back after downloading the patch.
Sure there are occasional jerks, but it's rare, if someone does verbally assault you, just mute them, and I do I somethimes turn off comms for weeks at a time when I'm not in the mood to talk to anyone on VOiP, usually when I'm upset about something the devs are doing, but sometimes when I'm just not in a mood to listen to chatter, the command wheel is really all you need anyways unless you want to lead shenanigans, and it sounds like you aren't ready for that anyways, not yet. But read that tutorial, and maybe soon you'll be calling out movements, etc.
I've been almost exclusively solo play for many years, except for a few rare instances, but if you want to greatly improve your win chances, get some people to drop with, and stick together, move together, shoot together, focus fire, learn that tutorial (if you haven't already) Even if you do it poorly you can still about double your chance of winning a game by just working with a dedicated lance. I don't mean a wolf pack, just a pack of some good solid heavies with moderate mobility and good mid range fire power (500 meters).
You might meet a better team, but odds are you will end going 4 vs 1, one at a time, and killing half their team sequentially if you just do what I described, even with a team of Tier 3 you can much more easily work your way up to T2, even T1 just by working together.
