Then why the hell is he in tier 1 with w/l and k/d ratios of 1? Same tier as superstar players with w/l and k/d ratios of 3-5. This game should have just 2 tiers: top 1% and everyone else, because everyone else is closer to each other than they are to the very top and it doesn't really matter how you mix them. Only when you put 2-3 superstar players on one team and then "balance" it with the same amount of "tier 1" mech dads on the other do you begin to have problems. Weight doesn't matter, tier doesn't matter, only presence or absence of superstar players. The only reason for match maker to wait should be to find another such player to balance teams, everything else should be relaxed.

I came back after years of not playing to check things out and grab free stuff and it has been stomp after stomp with the winning team posting ggs afterwards, a bizarre experience to say the least. I'll probably stay for another month then gtfo. Zero $$$ from a returning player, how's that for a business model.

w/l of 3 - 5 is pretty rare, often that would be someone who groups very often, and that's a whole other can of worms.

Tier definitely matters, everyone in tier 5 stands still to shoot, including often in lights which is basically suicide, no one torso twists, they just take their atlas, walk into the enemy team, do 400 dmg, then load into the next match.

But it is true that the matchmaker isn't the best, with low pop plus the fact that iirc about 11% of the player base are tier 1, and 50% of the player base are tier 5, you can get some wonky games.

I guess I should have been more specific, I was more referring to the fact about losing 12 out of 14 games one night, which sounds far fetched to me, off the top of my head I don't think I have had anything close to that before, I have definitely had losing streaks but again nothing close to that.

I understand what you're want to say. I'm not one to deny that I'm not at the top of the list of the most skilled MWO players. However, if you look at my stats on Jarl's List, you'll see that my K/D rating is much higher than 1.0 in the vast majority of cases. Does that mean that my skills aren't that bad? And in the vast majority of games, I do more to win than necessary? But my K/D is always higher than my W/L. And given this, I again come to the conclusion that the balancer is not doing its job.
But even if we assume that I'm a weak player, then a logical question arises: isn't it the balancer's job to form teams in such a way that even a weak player gets a balanced gaming experience?
And I'm not surprised that with this approach to team formation, the activity of old players drops, and new players don't stay in MWO. A game that punishes you with losses is unlikely to have and develop its popularity.
Perhaps it is not obvious to someone, but people come to shooters for the most part wanting to win.

And I'm not calling you a liar, more just saying that it sounds like a once in a blue moon type of thing, losing anywhere near that much.

The problem of the match maker is a tricky one, right now the main thing it does is keep t5 away from t1, which it does a decent job of, but because of the low pop I believe it's very difficult to balance teams farther then that without making wait times 5 years.

64 damage, plus whatever supplemental weapons folks decide to slap on these, at 810m. WTF? The folks who currently kvetch about those of us going low to avoid the blue lasers, etc, while we try to close are going to yell themselves hoarse when these mechs go live. Gonna be interesting to say the least. At least they don't drop until after the 8v8 experiment ends (but think about how dominant a couple of these could be in the hands of a couple of the more competent players of this game in an 8v8 match on any of the larger/sniper friendly maps should 8v8 end up returning and sticking around (which I think it probably will)). Good thing nobody snipes in this game! /s

It's comparable to 2xGauss+ERLL and runs quite hot limiting your ability to stack additional ERLL. The IS variant would have a total alpha of 91 and would be very close to heatcap after one alpha. Gauss builds meanwhile retain a pair of functionally heatless gauss rifles. Clan variant would be 85 alpha and about as hot.

Also HGR shake makes stagger firing much more complicated since you'd need to backload most of youe damage.

I dig the names and look for the Bullsharks, I don't object to a new weapon but the rail gun numbers just look dumb for a single weapon... and you are releasing this while everyone is practicing their sniping getting ready for comp season... yeah.

Ehhhh

"Megalodon", if you lean into the shark theme
"Harpoon", plays off the railgun and the aquatic

can even be interpreted as rivals in that way

Not that it matters

tell me again why can't the Hag 40 do 40 damage pinpoint anymore??? even over how many pellets it shoots?
we had the hags doing the damage on their number over time with burst fire, then they slowed it down even more and then they added 4+ splash Damage to each of them.....

I was honestly fine with it when they changed it the first time...

Give IS the RISC Hyper Laser to recontextualize the dedicated Clan players' complaints pls

(half joking)

Add improved heavy gauss so we can pair them for funsies, that would be haha silly funny

Bombast Lasers, Plasma Canons, Hyper-Velocity AC, Hot-Loaded LRMs, Variable Speed Pulse Lasers, there are allot of untouched well known Battletech weapon systems that haven't been implemented in MWO without borrowing ideas from MechCommander or MechWarrior 4 fan mods.

I was largely suggesting those as a joke but they're canon and would be horrifying in the hands of competent players on suitable chassis, and would make Kursed forget all about these (which have both IS and Clan anyway) and expose them to 44 pinpoint at long range on any suitably heavy chassis, and add in 20 or more hitscan laser burn at ER Large range on an Assault that can swing that too

heck just make HGauss work like iHGauss for more tears

it might suck to be a light or medium for a bit after these launch though

There are pre-existing builds that fills similar niche/role in the game already (and performs well to boot), it doesn't take "until it's actually in the game" to point out how it's better than them.
Like the TSP Summoner being a Crael but better everything thanks to mixpod builds.

"Better in everything" Is just untrue. Crael has more DPS

I meant Plasma Rifles, the Plasma Cannons we got don't really act like how Plasma Cannons are described in Battletech. My point stands there are other weapons Battletech/Mechwarrior fans are familiar with that haven't been implemented yet in MWO. The Bombast laser isn't even new to Mechwarrior franchise.

Plasma Rifles would be kind of weird. E weapon with nonvolatile ammo that is a PPC but better as long as ammo holds out and inflicts a lot of heat.

Stunlocking is very unfun for the target tbh

The +20 FB Structure doesn't show on the site because derp, gives it as much hitpoints as some 80t by the way, on top of being more agile (comparable to some mediums), JJs, speed, etc.
By the way, did you know that the TSP variants are designed by experienced members of the community? So it's definitely balanced.
Or rather, the know how to add something that has its main strength in hardpoint bloat, which means the only real way to nerf it would be removing the +20FB Structure from all Summoners outside of their So8, or just nerfing the SMN-G ST pods outside of its So8 with negative quirks.

https://mwo.nav-alph...e256c24a_CRD-CR
Can go LE280 or MRM10s (pretty hot) instead at most.

The MWO Plasma Cannon already work in a similar fashion, the damage/heat was lowered and no ammo is required. Why I still get it mixed up for a discount Plasma Rifle. I know PGI will never commit to a heat inducing weapon considering how many balancing changes have been made to the Flamer over the years but something based off that concept should be considered if we are now pulling ideas from MechCommander and MW4 fan Mods

OK, that's enough pearl-clutching. 40 points of pinpoint is a lot, but if it's one-shotting any but the most fragile Lights, much less "Mediums and some Heavies," that's only because you forgot to armor your Battlemech, or turned your back to the enemy. Even the very high alpha damage is already duplicable, or exceeded on chassis like the Stone Rhino 6. Might the 'mech need a nerf? Sure, but we'll have to play it live to find out for sure, just like always.
