Just to make things even more interesting. What if individuals were allowed to wager c-bills in 1v1 up to 12 v 12 battles. Build into the Group access. The key is, MWO sells a c-bill for 100 , and redeems a c-bill for a percentage of it's original purchase price. Within a year the servers will over heat.Posted ImageThe same or similar mechanism could be used to pay players, like the tournament champs. They do get money don't they? Robolox has a mechanism that allows for payment for services created inside their environment. And , in the Comstar tone, Mech Piloting is a job that pays good.

Adding gambling and tying cbills to actual money is a horrible idea and you should feel bad for posting this.

This is a terrible idea because gambling is predatory and should be restricted. Also legally if you let people redeem these for actual money:

1. You are now beholden to a ton of international financial regulation because you're doing international money transfers. PGI runs out of Canada so there's a lot of KYC that they will need to do to let people participate in this.

2. You're now running a casino so there's even more regulation domestically and probably internationally.

3. What happens if someone pulls out too much money?

4. Have you seen what matches look like? If you want to line the top 200 players wallets that's......a decision.

Are you bloody efin <redacted>?

The EU is trying to put a stop to predatory gambling practices in games... and you just want to add something like that in?

Go ouside and find a casino to dump your money in if you're that desperate. Leave MWO alone, it already has enough problems as it is.

No one suggested that a player was required to wager. I just suggest the option be available.

Realistically it would just be used to funnel C-Bills to newer players. Veterans are already swimming in cash, so there's no thrill in sweeping an opposing team for 5 to 10 million C-Bills. The smaller the team size, the more this scenario becomes true.

It's a fun Disney Land idea, and something I could definitely see spicing up tabletop games, but it's just not sensible here.

There again, No requirement to wager is required. Voluntary interest and participation would be on the parties desiring a match. All that really has to happen is MWO set up the accounting and then allow for the redemption of c-bill. The cost of c-bill and the redemption values are key to making it a valid market idea.

It's not a valid market idea, and I'm increasingly wondering if this is a troll account. Yeesh.

Nor is there anything stopping two players from setting up a private wager themselves if they want to do this sort of thing. Which I cannot imagine anyone would, but there's a dozen different ways to send cash around if people want to pony up on a game of MWO.

Ethical considerations aside, this is exactly the issue. I think MWO almost got banned in the EU once because supply caches were too similar to gambling.

You seem to still not feel bad about proposing this, which is what I told you should happen. So let me reiterate it in smaller words.

At best, this is a dumb idea that feeds a demand that doesnt exist. At worst, its probably illegal and would lead to MWO being banned in multiple countries or shut down altogether.

I worked in a casino for a while

During that time I came to the conclusion that I would be more comfortable selling f***ing horse tranquilizers in supermarkets than being involved in any way, shape or form with any gambling operation

Gambling crossing into online spaces and gaming was inevitable but horrible and every measure that can be reasonably taken to keep it at bay should be taken

Given the fact that you can buy C-bills in this game with real money, that would be a terrible idea.

You can only buy them in the in-game store. However, you can also get them on Steam by purchasing Legendary Mechs.
