This is great,...lets make an even faster smaller mech that makes a piranha seem like an easy target. PGI......do you know what it looks like when four comp players drop in these bad boys and wolf pack together? Right now, whichever team has more of these little buggers wins. Assaults have medium level armor now because they have to beef up back armor for the inevitable fire moth beaming in behind the team in the opening minute of game play. You broke your own game with this kind of speed. Enough is enough. Ive had to run streak boats just to have a chance and watched these guys take an alpha of streaks in the open and have nothing register.

You have to get extra close because they can almost outrun your missiles. So if you fired on the fringe of your optimal it could very well have just got out of range when they exploded. That would look like it hit but you would get no paperdoll flash. But firemoths are super easy to kill. Shoot the legs with lasers you can't miss them they honkin huge and the running stride is very narrow so there is never a gap between the legs.

I dunno about streaks but the Firemoth isn't that hard to hit. It's very fast but it's not *that* agile or small

No they didn't.
and... no it's not.

Right or wrong, over-tuned mechs have become PGI's business model.
In case you haven't noticed, the revenue cycle is:

- sell overtuned mech
- wait for sales to fall
- nerf overtuned mech and give away for MC/C-Bills
- sell new overtued mech

Overtuned mechs (and long-term power creep) may have helped dwindle the playerbase down to those who either enjoy or tollerate it, but in either case, selling overtuned mechs (and related accessories) are probably the only thing paying the bills. Suggesting any meaningful change is likely too financially risky for fear of scaring off what little playerbase remains. So the cycle continues, until it ends.

We can post about imbalance all we want, but enough will never be enough as long as people keep pressing the "give my money to PGI" button. I don't like the power creep either, but I think it's the current reality.

The firemoth will eventually be nerfed, just like (literally) every mech before it, but only when its revenue makes it viable to do so.

Respectfully, four competent comp players dropping in pretty much anything is probably going to ruin your day.

I imagine that in the higher tiers they can be very dangerous, but down in T4-3, it's not that bad.

Good hunting,

you realize that the firemoth has extremly low armor? that's how it balances out it's hard to hit nature, you can't take a hit from anything really. you can't even stop to smell the roses.

The fire moth isn't even the best wolfpack mech because it has no durability and not even that much firepower. A four stack mitigates a lot of decisions but even then there are scarier/pubstompier options.

I'd suggest they try not immediately soiling themselves in fear and panic whenever a light looks at them but this is not the way of the mechdad

OP has a 94% playtime of Assaults, and is complaining about Light mechs.

So he's probably the sort of Stone Rhino player who looks straight ahead, arms locked, oblivious to anything going on behind him, has no seismic, and doesn't react at all when the first 4 HML or 8 HSL burst almost rips his side torso off from behind.

The last time I could pull those shennanigans off solo was when people stopped being scared of the moth being flavor of the month on release.

It's almost as if there's more than one factor at play here.

I usually get by with a couple of SSRM2s to deal with pesky lights, maybe it is because of the fire rate, I find those more efficient than the heavier SSRM6s

I still find that mechs stuttering their jump jets are harder to score hit reg on. Firemoths just take patience... wait, wait, wait, FIRE. Waiting while its chewing on your leg takes a bit of discipline, but its nothing new.

Don't shot at them lead your target just a bit and boom.
They run into the blast every time.
But be advised they do have PGI plot armor.
I don't care what anyone's says.

Spastically twisting as you jj flutter is known to screw up hit reg and why you see guds do it all the time. Too many vectors for the predictive code to keep up with and it craps out.

I do not know and neither do you because players can't drop with four 20 tons mechs (min tonnage for a 4 player group is 120 tons).
Not saying that to be a smartass, just to point how unreliable one's memories, feeling and impressions can be.

Anyway, to deal with Firemoths, like any other lights, cut their legs.

As someone who extensively played Firemoths when they came out, and still runs them today - I can assure you, your Newbie Hammer Streaks are working.

Hum... yes and no...
I pilot the Firemoth a lot and most of the time my streaker opponents have trouble acquiring lock on me because, well, i'm so fast I'm already gone. Streaks are much easier to use against slowers lights (140kph and less).
On the other hand, as soon as they got the lock and are firing whatbillions of missiles at my moth, well, i'm basically dead.
