Structure "bloat" chassis, is it? You mean like the Longbow? The Heavy Metal? The Warhawk, Battlemaster, Supernova, and Gargoyle? Or the Clan Stalker and Nightstar? I just went down the list of Assaults with CT structure quirks, here. I'll save you the trouble of looking up the data (for the first time, apparently) - none of those chassis and 'mechs have incoming crit reduction to pair with their significant structure bonuses. There are Assaults that do have crit reduction, but they're the ones that are deliberately designed to be deceptively tough (such as the War Emu, or Charger #7,) and they aren't the norm - most of them are 'mechs like the Zeus and Awesome, whose durability isn't well-regarded. Unless you're prepared to claim that the Awesome isn't fragile enough...?

Now, MechDB doesn't properly account for full-body quirks, so it's harder to look those up - the quirk is also much more rare. However, the Thunderbolt comes to mind as a recipient, and it... does not have crit reduction. When you dislike something, it becomes actually more important to be sure you're thinking about it rationally when you criticize.

I'm not saying said chassis are well regarded as durable on top necessarily, I'm saying that "they have their hitpoints in structure" by "bloat", and how MGs are underpowered even towards even them when they should be their intended target.

Didn't think you did mean that. What you did mean - or at least what you said - was that those 'mechs have crit receiving quirks, and they generally do not. MGs remain a niche weapon that's only good for destroying structure, but is generally good at that role.

If you would think, instead of throwing out contrarianism, you'd embarrass yourself a lot less.
was that aimed at me? reguardless personal insults do not belong in a forum like this unless you want people to not play the game...

You haven't been insulted when someone accurately describes your behavior - and in the immortal words of What The?!'s Wolverine: "if the shoe fits, lace it up and live in it, bub."

I have, and they can be quite brutal, in the right situation - and in the right numbers. But they're much more situational; you do not, for example, want to try and kill a Light with machine guns. Their hit boxes are too small relative to the MGs' cone of fire mechanic, and the MG replacers will generally do a lot better in that fight. But against larger targets, MGs are just brutal if you can manage to get facetime on open components. This can be dicey in Quick Play, since it requires a certain level of controlled and intelligent aggression on your team in order for you to engage targets which are otherwise occupied, and thus unable to wreck your day with pulse lasers, high-caliber autocannons - or APGauss.

Id expect a line like this from you and a few others. Its called being civil and discussing. Not shutting someone down for the sake of your fragile ego.

This is a video game. End of story. We play this for a hobby, for a little escapism, camaraderie with friends who dont live nearby, and (supposed to be) to relax a bit.

Not being able to discuss stuff civilly is one of the hallmarks of this time we are living in.

Smack it harder; maybe something will start to work. Your recourse to "civility" falls flat when someone knows - as you know - that certain people will engage in the same nonsense arguments and knee-jerk reactionism over and over again. And knee-jerk contrarianism is exactly what's on display there; you've lost arguments with me, so you want to ignore the actual context - which is Vix yet again engaging in poor-Clanner partisanship while not bothering to even think about what he says. Civility doesn't mean I have to just pretend that isn't rude, and "civility" in itself is adequate courtesy, not a total lack of conveyed annoyance.

So instead of trying to shut me down because of your own "fragile ego," try engaging topics with good faith and due diligence - it'll get you a lot further than sniping at me.

You've clearly never read some "discourse" that has happened historically. There's nothing special about this time more than any others (in fact there've been several just like it).

And like Void said, civility doesn't mean you treat all viewpoints as equals but it does mean you give someone the benefit of the doubt until they prove that they don't deserve it.
