Extremely. Its not a light, and its pretty easy to hit, so the additional armour quirks it got are next to useless on it. You really have to concentrate to do well in this mech.

Getting in combat, within one second my right arm was in the red... Yeah...

I don't recommend using arm mounted weapons LOL.

So it's not a 1v1 mech. Cooldowns too long for big alphas, and you're tonnage starved if you want to be able to jump and move at a decent clip.

SRMs sound like a good idea until you run into someone faster or bigger than you, at which point you can't reliably get away like a light mech can or slug it out like a heavier/quirked machine can.

CERLL/ CERPPC sniper sounds like the next logical step. Play it like a funny looking Shadowcat without ECM.

Nope.... there are at least 2-3 good builds for each variant and literally 3 builds have ERPPC or ERLL. Most are short to mid range including zombie brawler builds on the A and B. When I get more time I'll post build links up here.

TLDR after extensive playing by at least 3 cauldron members, it's a very good mech at first pass.

Please do.

I'm having trouble identifying at what range and what situation I can jump in and do damage without being torn to pieces.

Closest thing I've driven in this medium speed range are ATM Huntsman.

after the update v1.4.312.0 my matches are buggy...the BJ-1DC blackjack im using suffered from Movement Glitching, Weapon Fire Lag and collisions with teamates...and then i lose internet connection and whatnot. getting kicked out of match 3x today but VIOP stayed active and i could hear my teamates through today so it looks like its not affected doing the same if i try to go into skills or any part of my hanger so im not sure its server instability or anything else and cen you guys diagnose the issue?

I've enjoyed my first couple days with the SHD.

Only buffed up 2 variants at this point. I started with the SHD-IIC and played it bone stock until fully skilled.
By the end of the day yesterday I'd begun to turn in a couple good matches.

Today I played the SHD-IIC-2. I ended up changing the load out quite a bit, MPLs and SPLs plus a flamer.
Today was the first day since starting to play MWO that my pilot rating had more green up arrows than red down.
The mechs agility and speed seems to fit my preferred play style.

I will say that my better matches were in QP. It was during the mini-events that I was playing the SHD-IIC and that particular variant definitely felt out-classed, just felt like I was doing an awful lot for very little damage output, especially when compared to what most of the other guys were running.
In the chaos that is QP though, the IIC-2 has been an absolute riot.

I look forward to playing the rest of the variants and seeing how they go.

You can add a non-Cauldron member's endorsement to that. I think a lot of people are forgetting that one of the traditional ways to play a Medium is as a mobile firepower platform to support Heavies and Assaults - not every Medium needs to be an ECM-carrying heavy scout, or a durability-quirked pocket Heavy.

I tested out ERPPCs, but I found that while I could do it, it seemed like my Huntsmen already do that, with more tonnage to cool down. So far I love my Dante build, and I'm looking forward to testing out the close-range splat builds when I have the chance.

Speaking of the Cauldron, though - is there an issue with the Discord? I can't see any of the discussion channels any more, despite having reacted to the post that should have gotten me access to the public channels.

Damn, I didn't think you would have the tonnage for a zombie brawler.
My best results have been with the IIC-2 (all energy one?) with 2 large pulses and 3 ER mediums.

Here are some builds. For ones that are close I wrote the differences out. Keep in mind that with a mech with good mounts and agility, a key playstyle (not required, but strong) is low exposure poptart, and to do so you want at least 3 JJ for that. Still, this covers everything from zombie standard engine brawl to LBX SRM combos to Plasma/SRM combos to various flavors of dakka to las vom to ERPPCs and APG or red laser backups.

SHD-IIC

Can also swap out plasmas for 4 MPL and take more JJ or DHS

Just posted the builds.... Use the A and B for zombie capable brawlers, with the B being a full weapons loadout zombie (just like the Hatchetman Tin Man).

I see you in the server. Maybe try a fresh restart and then hit the "accept rules" thing to allow access. If that still doesn't work, let me know and i'll kick you and reinvite you. Discord definitely has some weird moments when it doesn't show me all the channels i should be in for other servers.

For the slower (81kph) builds, I still don't really see why you'd use it over something like SMN-D (3Large laser/PPC) or Grasshopper (3IS ERPPC HSL with +thrust quirk), or even the Trial Huntsman (2C-UAC10 among other things), the Nova, and even the Griffin (energy+missile) the only thing with real unique appeal about it is the -50% missile cooldown and the slightly faster ones (that are still pretty underquirked).

As if that says anything. Cauldron is the reason we have had stupidly broken quirks in the past. They don't know a thing about balance.
