WHAT IS THE RAPTOR?

The Raptor is a 25 ton Inner Sphere Omnimech, introduced shortly after the Clan Invasion.

WHY THE RAPTOR?

It adds another 25 tonner to the lineup, another IS Omni (an interesting one with a bit of lore to it). It has a number of pod options including a variant with jump jet pods, some surprisingly competent looking stock loadouts, decent speed (on par with the Mist Lynx).

HOW WOULD THEY DO IT?

Well...

Damn if this thing doesn't look a lot like a Flea if they REALLY have to get a little lazy, but they did do a little extra work with the SHD IIC.

There are so many mechs and so many variants of mechs in MWO that there's basically no mech yet to be added that does something one of our variants doesnt already do.

That means any time someone says "yawn, boring, lets get something new" it should be dismissed. Rule of cool is basically the only requirement for new mechs now, so why not the raptor?

I just want a strider, with a locked standard 240 engine, and locked standard armour, and locked single heat sinks it would need the most absurd quirks to not be DOA

The Raptor is a lot cooler than the Gauntlet or BHKU, cooler than the Bane. Arguably cooler than the SHD IIC though I have a massive Unseen fetish and love mediums.

Would it be successful?

Dunno. I am fairly confident good light pilots would make people cry hard in this thing.

It also looks like a walking toaster oven so quite possibly the worst hitboxes imaginable.

Make the case for a new chassis in MW5 first. Then figure out how it fills a niche in MWO.

I imagine a good way to bring it and some of the other IS Omnis into MW5 would be an Operation Bulldog campaign (culminating in The Great Refusal). I think the Hauptmann, Men Shen etc would need to be pushed to a FedCom Civil War focused campaign. Bulldog already got touched on twice (MechCommander and MechWarrior 3 kindasorta) but it's pretty cool imo.
