The assault weight class has the most mechs as it is. Why keep adding more mechs to the weight class instead of lights or mediums, which have the least mechs?
Why The Focus On Adding Assault Mechs?

People think they are getting their monies worth by having them. They correlate more armor, tonnage, and hardpoints as "getting more for your money." When in actuality its just a different STYLE of play and mech. Just that consumer mindset of "more numbers = worth more." Which it really doesnt. Its just buying a mech that is different capabilities and functions/purpose.
It doesn't help that right now high alphas and damage is the selling point either. Especially when "just deal damage and ignore the rest" is a thing.

Is this about the Naga?
In its current state I don't think it's even that much better than either the ON1-IIC or the Gargoyle for the non-Arrow ones.
Looking at it solely as an "assault" is kind of shallow when it's a "fast-assault" that plays more like a lot of medium/heavies that shares its playstyle (i.e cXL350 ON1-IIC or Gargoyle).
And since it's an omni with locked equipment, you're actually forced to run it as such instead of just downsizing the engine to get a lot more free tonnage and run it as a copy of whatever actual Assault you can think up.

You can run a light 'Mechs and be successful. That is not a problem.
However, running your typical fragile and lightly armed light 'Mech is often much more exhausting. Every time I run a light 'Mech and check the after-game scoreboard to see my MS, I wonder: "So much effort and always one step from being killed by some ECM assault sniper that I can not even see to end up with MS like this?"
