1. Space vikings.
2. Mead, ale, beer, whiskey, vodka, whatever spirits you may prefer.
3. Hot Scandanavian babes.
4. Viking metal.
If you can't get down with that then you just can't have fun in the 31st (or any) century.

I will definitely sign with the KungsArme. I want a chance to change the game and make the FRR more of a relevant player in the Inner Sphere as well as getting better prepared for the Clan invasion. This is pretty much my first time RPing in the BT/MW universe and I like the underdog role.
I can guess that the Smoke Jags will probably want a Merc setup until they can join their clan, would that be a fair assessment?

Also, I will most likely be going House specific for the most part, so the FRR's own military mainly. I might join a Merc Unit... but the only reason I would do so would be if it was a mainly FRR centric Merc Unit... and of course also depending on the people them selves in that unit. Same goes for joining some kind of player group within the FRR's military.
I have no problem going at things solo. Never have, and never will either. I have always been a singleplayer kind of a gamer anyway. And in regular mmo's I tend to play solo the majority of the time as well. Granted, MWO is not a mmo... A game like this does normaly need a higher level of teamwork for a team to win, or so I asume atleast. But that will not change anything for me, I will still need to find "the right people" befor I would even entertain the tought of joining a Merc Unit/Guild/etc.

I REALLY don't like what I've heard so far about the Loyalty Points determining Rank for Faction units. I want to fight for the KungsArme, but this system may make me be a Merc instead.

It did say that people with the highest possible levels of rank will be able to influence which Faction Planets are to be the target. But it does not say that they would either be the leader of the entire Faction, OR even be the leader of a/the lance/unit/group/what ever when going into battle. THOSE things will most likely still be decided amongst the players them self, within their own guild or what ever. Or come naturally in a pick up group.
Just because there might be a certain group of people out there that has been THE group when it comes to... let's say House Steiner for the past 15 years... does not mean that they will have any kind of large amount of controll over what all the Steiner Faction player base actually do in the game. Because really, theres going to be other people who want's to play Steiner but want to create their own group of Steiners instead.
The LP more seem to me to be there to give an additional incentive for the player to stick around in one House, and/or to not be neutral. And to make it more worth while to try and get better Global Faction based bonuses by occupying Faction Planets. But I also think it's there to narrow down how many Houses a single Merc Unit can actually work for during X amount of time. The rank you get from that is probably in most cases going to be pretty irrelivent when it comes to other players in the game.
The Faction Planet missions are probably the casual, or semi-casual, part of the game. It's probably a pretty relyable way to earn Credits, stuff, Mechs, XP, etc. Where as the Border Planets more seem to mainly be for the more Hardcore MechWarrior gamers... probably the "high risk - high reward" type of stuff.
It almost feels like the difference between PvE vs PvP... except that in this case both of them will be PvP... but two different kinds of PvP, or difficulties or something... if that makes sence.

I know that people with the highest LP/Rank won't lead the entire Faction. But they do have an effect on everyone below them. I don't like this. For setting up organization within a unit, it creates an arbitrary hurdle that needs to be overcome. If you want to set up a unit within the FRR faction, you have no way to set player ranks so that others know who are the Lance Leaders, who commands a company, who are the grunts, etc etc. You have to go to some meta-gaming method that the Merc units don't.

I never suggested this be prevented, or that the "old, established" groups from past games should be given command over anyone who doesn't want to be commanded by them. We already know that players won't be the House Leaders, but they do appear to be unit commanders since they can direct planetary attacks. They become unit commanders through the LP/Rank system, not based on merit or ability to command.

I hadn't viewed it this way... seems pretty weird that that is how it would be set up to me since I would expect the opposite, with Faction players being more hardcore into Conquest than Mercs.
