Games launch open beta with cash shop in my country all the time. I don't think most of them even bother to announce that they have gone commercial afterwards >_>;

Well, we know that it has reached the stage that they were able to playtest yesterday, which means that the basic game functions are in place in one form or another.

That isn't necessarily true. I know where I work, we run playtests for a variety of different reasons - some are just blocking passes, some are group passes, some are functionality passes, some are the mass-company playtests... they could be testing one of a hundred different systems in the game, just to see exactly how it works, whether it works, and if it's something that will be in-game at launch, or pushed back due to lack of time.

BTW, PGI? Do your QA testers a serious favor... NEVER EVER -EVER- send a bug back to them marked as 'Known Shippable'... it's one of the few things that will make a QA tester go into a homicidal rage.
