yes, pay for voice mod, basic as standard, really basic crappy standard, but hey just pushing the pay for the better voice or pay to put in your own sounds, etc.

since only you get to hear your own sounds, should be simple to save into your files and an unlock etc they could charge for without worrying about licenses etc, since only the end user really knows what they are hearing etc.

We learned a lesson about this a long time ago at EA after spending a LARGE amount of cash recording VO... celebrity voices don't carry the impact that some people think they do. Accents/fun/funny stuff is worth it.

Well I agree with this one. I don't need celebrities talking inside my mech and I was never a fan of celebrity endorsements in games. Most of us probably won't care who the person behind the voice is as long as the voice is the kind we want (accent, tone, etc).

I think the only game I've played where I've cared about who was doing the voice was the PS3 game WET.

The main character was a hot brunette who kicked ***.
Voiced by Eliza Dushku (a hot brunette who has played in movies/TV kicking ***).

There have been others that I kinda recognized but didn't really put my finger on until looking up credits etc. and I don't think that it would be nearly as effective as a disembodied voice in your 'Mech.

Unless we could put up an image on your HUD, which could start off cool as hell and get to be VERY irritating.

Well Carole Ruggier still does game voice work, but I am hoping for a Japanese accent for our faction with an option of it being in Japanese.

Probably best to have a load of local waves with just numbers 001.wav, 002.wav, and have it loaded locally since there are many preferences and many languages to cover.

If we're going to have the MW2 start up routine, we better have the rest of the voices, like:

"Light Amplification... engaged"

"Ammo depleted"

"Critical hit... [weapon/critical location]"

"Critical hit... weapon destroyed"

"Ejecting"

You know em, you love em, lets get them in the game.

I remember them fondly, but I also remember being dead and hearing, "Shutdown imminent. Shutdown overridden. Critical hit, reactor. Critical hit, weapon destroyed. Critical hit, weapon destroyed" for 30 seconds afterwards due to lag.

I personally way preferred the MW2:Mercenaries voice over the MW2 one. Though maybe that's cuz I played Mercs first.
I feel precisely the opposite.

Who did the voice for the Nanosuit in the Crysis games? We should get him.

MAXIMUM, REACTOR.
MAXIMUM, SENSORS.
MAXIMUM, WEAPONS.
All systems, MAXIMUM.

I also liked the MW3 voice, and the Starfury AI in Babylon 5.

I'm all new to the MW world, I must say I'm very pumped to play this game. I agree the computer voice makes the game feel more connected to your mech. I would like to hear the computer tell you how much and where the damage has occured. A male and female option would be great. However, I would go a step futher and recommend having your mech be a sort of interactive AI. Perhaps your mech will plead with you to retreat the situation while taking heavy damage. This would make the player feel more intunned and connected to your mech. Your mech is more than a machine, you both depend on each other to survive.

There were some excellent voice actors in "Homeworld".

With all the electronic equipment available for sound design these days, I'm sure there could be some way for players to attenuate, alter, and play with the voice of their personal mech's computer's voice.

Male or female; robotic or morse code, it would be another fun aspect of personalizing your own mech.

I just remembered how excellent the computer voice was in "Collossus, The Forbin Project".

My g-d, THAT was an excellent voice.
