I agree. With only two types of weapon systems (to avoid confusion), decent speed and armour plus jump jets, the Cat has everything a new player needs to explore Mech combat.

It's a great all around medium mech that can pack a PUNCH

Level 100 is the level cap but they announced that they will increase the cap via expansions

This is so ridiculously wrong. I think every single piece of information you put in that post is demonstrably wrong. First, there has never been a 1 ton mech. I believe the lightest are 20 tons. There are no quests and mobs. There are no pilot levels. Thus there is no level cap.
I don't know if you thought this was funny, but it's not cool to tell someone who is specifically asking for help as someone unfamiliar with the universe things that are this blatantly false. It only spreads confusion.

on topic: i would recommend running a Catapult as you can etiher be close range support or a longer range missile boat.

My beef with starting in a catapult would be that you pretty much would just stay at range, and not really see what in-your-face combat is all about.
I'm still on the fence a bit my own self, the assault mechs with their armor is a draw, but my fav mech is already in the game as well. The hunchback. Very excited for founders hunchy.
