Everytime you destroy a destroy a mech, they would just fall down. The devs should make it to wear if you strike a mech hard enough they would go into pieces or become reduced to a lower torso. Just imagine your lance cornering a lone mech, then you and your team hit that mech with everything you've got and then BOOM!!! They would be reduced to smithereens.

Well, lore-wise, noone would want to reduce his payment to smithereens. ;)

As a feature, there are no pros, nor cons to implementing it.

I always thought it was a little weird when you blew the center torso. There's a huge explosion, everything in the immediate area gets toasted, and the mech just goes limp like one of those cheap puppet toys. I think this is a great Idea. Maybe even include some larger chunks of damaging shrapnel that travel randomly out somewhat beyond the cook zone. Idk at least make sure the death sequence is different based on the type of KO.

Ya. shoot the legs out or kill the pilot if you want the goodies. However there will most likely be a situation where survival will win out over salvage, for example if your enemy is only flashing red on the center torso and you're flashing everywhere.

Sorry, I guess I should try to remember to review my posts before I send them, because I usually get another idea soon after. If a flying piece of mech doesn't get too badly damaged, maybe it still contains some usable parts?

On a side note, there's also that trade-off between busting up you're enemy's LBX20 to render them impotent more quickly than killing them outright, and taking the time to make those precise shots in order to keep it when he dies.

I think there's a lot of room to expand the mechanics of this aspect of the game.

Title is not very descriptive of what is being discussed. This is a great idea.

My opinion....No.

Fusion engines do not explode, except in very specific circumstances, think less than 1%, and 4 mechs do not have the firepower to reduce a mech to smitherines. Ammo explosions, might throw some debris, depending on the size of the explosion, but you have to explode the ammo with something, as I said fusion engines don't explode, nor do the heat up so they will not cook off the ammo either, they just go cold, expcet in extremely rare circumstances.

Splash damage on destruction has always been a part of the MW series, I dunno about the other games but I figured it came from some real rules seeing as how it is the best deterrent there is to mech hugging and point blank shooting. What we are asking for here is for it to be a bit more JUICY.

Splash damages isn't really part of the TT, artillery being a notable exception. I would rather they approach those problems with other mechanics like movement and difficulty targeting.

I know, but I see it as eye candy for the sake of eye candy, and I would rather see added game mechanics than eye candy, just my thoughts on it anyway. Others I'm sure have differing opinions.

Aw, c'mon dude. No big explosions for you? Doesn't it make it just that much more satisfying when you finally bust up that mudda****** who's been harrassing you and refusing to die?

I've played the TT for decades now, so I have no expectation that they should blow up, when they blow up in the video games it usually bothers me, because I know they shouldn't. For me a cored mech will fall over, if its moving or will slump and may fall over, if it's standing. If they want to add steam/smoke that's fine but I don't need it.

LOL...Actually I once had a firecraker blow up in my had when I tried to throw it, my fingers felt funny for hours, didn't stop me from playing with fireworks though. As far as my need for explosions in games goes, I guess I just prefer things more sim oriented.
