Hi, I some how only recently stumbled upon Mechwarrior Online and am very excitedly waiting for release! From what I could find, the game modes are a capture the flag type and a 12 v 12 deathmatch. Any one know if there are going to be more variety? As a long time (and long time ago) table top player I'm really hoping they have (or add in) arena type matches from the Solaris VIII from my old battletech box game.

They want to implement a Dropship Mode. You select 4 Mechs. Then you select which one to drop in first. After it is destroyed you return to your Dropship and select the next Mech you are dropping in. You continue this until all 4 are dead. Not sure what size battle it will be, 1v1, 4v4, etc.

From what I understand there's only two modes planned for release Dropship and Metagame where you conquer various planets while being part of a faction.

I did however hear about a possible Arena, but that was also speculated with the add in of melee. Not much fun in an arena if you can't punch people right?

Game modes at release are a WoT style match (team deathmatch with bases) and dropship mode Skylarr already explained.

No CTF as of yet. Also, we're fairly sure they'll add Solaris 7 (arenas) later, since it's very iconic, fun and easy to do.

Team Deathmatch and Dropship are just killing everyone with different amounts of mechs.

Assault is Team Deathmatch with a base to capture for the win.

I think it would be cool if players could play against CPUs in some kind of survival mode like defending a base or fight to the death. Unless they have already thought of that. I am new to this game after all.
