Q: Will there be a database wipe prior to open beta and/or official release, or will beta testers achievements and earnings transfer?

Q: Are you going to open up additional test server in Europe?
Q: Where would you like to place a server for Europe ?
Q: What do you think about the placement of servers in Germany in Frankfurt ? (European optical network node)

I ask because I live in Russia and the current connection to the server causes long delays.

Are there any plans to support additional flight simulator accessories? An example of this being the use of 3" LCDs (linked below) to off-load some of the screen overlays to a configurable setup. Some support I'd like to see are screen overlays for weapons, radar, target statistics, piloted mech statistics, speed/heat, score board, etc...

I agree to adding the Saiket controllers, right now they are not responsive enough and the throttle is backwards.

Throttle is backwards on the Logitech Extreme 3D Pro as well.
I also feel there should be some sort of training/testing area. People new to Mechwarrior will have issues with the controls and they shouldn't be expected to have to learn it all on the fly. Also, I'm sure people would like to be able to test out controller or keymapping configurations as well as configuring weapon groups before jumping into a match.

No - Devs have stated they will only be available on mechs and even specific variants that had them in canon

Open beta before the summer is over, 'Live' status (no longer beta) at some undecided point after that

Yes - the final wipe will be when open beta starts, so that new players and beta veterans will be on equal footing.

Can we perhaps have a few new mechs added to the beta test drive? I'd love to try a jagermech, or raven

Shh! The first rule of beta is that we don't talk about beta (not on the public forums, at least)! That goes for a few others on here asking beta related questions as well...

Q: Can we get someone other than Garth to answer these? If no, can you explain what you did to get this assignment?

How dare you challenge the Garth's authority and ability to answer our questions! </joking mode off> Seriously, though, he is the community manager - he gets to do a lot of the forward facing stuff like this I think. I bet he coordinates with other Devs to get any answers as needed ;)

Will there be any PVE and Salvaging destroyed mechs?

No, at least not for the time being. PvP is the main focus of this game, though some PvE element may come at a later date. Salvaging in the normal sense is not going to be in with PvP because nothing is going to be 'lost' by one team for the other to 'gain' (and gain without loss on the other side would imbalance the economy).

Will there be huge open world maps or is it all arena based ?

There are very large combat maps, and more maps will be added over time - but there isn't the option to simply walk around in your mech, etc. The overarching 'map' will be that of the whole Inner Sphere, once Community Warfare is in place, but you won't be able to just move around in it (there would be no point)... it will be more for tracking planetary control, etc. That is all going to be coming in well after open beta, though.

1. When will open beta start so I can play with my friends who can't afford to pay $30 + to play the game. Or will there ever be a way to send invites out to friends for founders?

Open beta is planned to be by the end of this summer, so not too much longer ;)

2. Why do we not gain more speed when losing limbs since we essentially weigh less. I would also like the ability to remove my own arms on a mech if I don't need them since I usually have nothing on some arms depending on what I am building.

Even canon mechs without arm mounted weapons still have arms (Banshee, for example). The TT rules and all previous MechWarrior games do not take damage into account when seeing how fast you can move, other than damage to the legs (loss of a leg in some games makes you limp).

Will the founder's premium time start automatically at launch or will you provide us codes that act like xbox live/MMO time cards?

Founders time will start at the beginning of open beta (end of summer) along with a final reset of founder's credits. You will get the boost to XP / cbills starting on Founders day (8-7-12) though, it just won't yet count against your 1 / 2 / 3 months of premium time.

View PostTsar Bomba, on 02 August 2012 - 09:37 AM, said:

It would be nice if you provided each month as a code for free premium time that we could use at any time. The veteran would recieve one code they could use anytime they had a lot of free time, the elite two, and the legendary would get three such codes.

I agree that this would be nice for a select few Founders who may not be able to play immediately around open beta - it has been asked for before, and with continued requests might be possible... but it may also be something beyond the scope of what was intended with this program.

To the question of Rpers.

6. I'm not typically an RPer, but the more you look, the more you see 1 or more RP community/communities showing up and/or growing. In my past experience there can be some friction between RPer's and Non-RPer's and that's never good. Are there steps being taken to give RPer's an in-game outlet that is easily accessible but not overlapping normal/Non-RP communications, so as to help prevent Mr. Random Guy from picking a fight with Mr. RPer?

The BT/MW series has one of the highest immersion factors of any IP known to exist. Only eve in my opinion comes close. And every video game based on this system has gone to great lengths to keep that immersion. In my opinion there will be very little of that friction in THIS game compared to others due to that immersion level. Everyone will be communicating in the same basic language when it comes to mechs, equipment, locations, events and even money. This right there makes for far less friction Some of the clan friendly units may use clanner terms like Aff and Star and others But these are all terms any pilot in this game will have to know to effectively analyze the enemy. Not just because they're 'the terms' everyone uses. But because no current military structure fits the situation.

I cant see he scenario you're talking about unless clear blatant goonswarm level trolling happens. At which point i would consider that a TOS violation and worthy of proper punishment under those terms. While an RP channel might be implimented to avoid the blatent OOC statements in a chat setting I dont think they're going to be as necessary as i've seen in other instances.

Q: In older MW titles you could fire backwards with an arm. This could be done by fully twisting the torso and the free look style aiming. You had to target without direct visual mostly while the targeting reticule went further than the cockpits glass. But you could still hit something as long as it was locked because the HUD would show the target and the targeting reticule. Will you bring that back into the game?

can we look forward to having a feature added to the mech lab that will allow us to configure our weapons groupings before we launch into que?

if so, will it be up and running before the open beta?

Will we be able to travel the galaxy ? Pick up contracts from multiple worlds? Set up a base on a world and constantly harrass the local units (persistant worlds)?

will there be any differentiation between maps on different planets? i realise that asking for a diff map for each planet is a lil much but lil things would be a nice touch IE weather, maybe having different textures and objects on the same basic topography.

also was wondering what everyone thinks of a more in depth command role, think natural selection or battlefield 2. a small rts element w/o taking too much away from the mech combat. like the ability to give orders attack or defend orders to lancemates and have it displayed on hud, to place turrents and command npc tanks or other cannon fodder at the cost of cbills or whatevs. always a fan of huge online battles and this would be so fitting for the next generation of mechwarrior
